so,I got my tank and the instructions SUCK . I dont think I need the extra vent that needs an 8mm hole drilled in the tank..also it looks like the tank sits pretty close to the header pipe , heat problems?? what do you guys think??

Just got my tank, thought the same thing you did, glad I found your thread. Can't wait to try the bike out now. Thanks to you and Rich for the info.

Your kickstart lever needs to be moved one notch back. It will then sit in the space with a little pressure to hold it in. With mine, the bike's vibration cause the lever to start marring the tank a bit, so I took a small piece of transmission line that I had a lying around and covered the foot area with just enough to go past the end of the lever and protect the tank. Beware however, you will now hit your footpeg when you kickstart the back and put a little nick in the lever. Such is the sacrifice for 3.4 gallons...SC

Thanks for the info SC. Inoticed right away that there was a problem. I'll move it a notch and see how it works. I won't really get to test it until Saturday, so I'll watch for the vibration then. Sure am glad you decided to stick around (re:your recent thread, you know which one), I noticed before that you have some very inciteful information to share with us newbies. Would have been a shame to lose out. :D

I have an IMS 12.5 liters. Space for the kickstarter, no problem with the pipe, no nothing. Would like it better if it was a little bigger and used the radiator panels as tank, as well for a big capacity. Full of gas and you don't notice it.

As far as the heat issue goes with the proximity to the pipe, I never had a problem at all. However, when I swapped a YZ rear fender in, I bought some aluminized tape from Wal-Mart to replace the OEM heat shield. At that time, I put a strip of it on the underside of the right saddlebag, just in case. Another thing about the Acerbis I changed was the included fuel line. I put in some grey 1/4" Motion Pro Tygon fuel line with a brass 5/16" fuel T. Here's a previous post where I described it in detail. Go to the second page about 2/3's of the way down..SC

You rock! :D It appears that you are going to save me a lot of headaches. I thought the parts included were a bit cheesy. :D
