00 clutch boss & 01 boss the same?

One vendor is telling that the 01 boss part # has superseded the 00 when I got it the damn thing it mic's 3mm deeper and has a ridge on the back side and the lock washer ears will not fit into the face of the boss's hub, plus the damn thing will not push the pressure plate off of the damn friction material :D :D :D . Yamaha of Troy does not show a superseded # they show the org. part # what the F*! Any clarification would be nice!

it should be 5JG-16383-00-00 :D

When I did my 01 mod, I had to replace the boss because I broke a bolt off in the old one. I used the part number for the 01, but they looked exactly alike to me.
