I'm an aggressive trail rider (Ca deserts and mountains). My first bike was a 2002 WR250F. I'm ready to move up to the 450 and debating the WR Vs the YZ. I hate to give up the magic button. Does anyone know of an aftermarket e-start kit for the YZ?

It can be done, but it is VERY extravagant and will cost you thousands of dollars extra if you buy a YZF. The best way is buying a new WR450F and turning it into a YZ450F with electric start. WAY less expensive and just as effective.

There is no aftermarket kit, though. You'd have to go OEM.

Yep, that's right. I've heard of an aftermarket kit for $8-900, and to convert using Yamaha parts requires a set of WR crankcases just to start with. Doug's right. You can drop 15 pounds or better off a WR fairly easily, and it's no big trick to switch to a YZ exhaust cam. I'd have to agree, it's the way to go if you're going to insist on e-start.
