license plate mounting

Recommended Posts

Best i've seen, but I think you can only get them in Australia, is an aluminium one made by Pro Fast.

You could easily get one made up though...its simply a piece of aluminium around 20 - 25cm long and about 5cm - 10cm wide which has mounting holes lining up with the bolts/screws holding the tail light on.

Just bend it so its the right angle and screw your number plate on. Its quick and easy to put on and off.

Jeez i need to get a digital camera so i can post pics...be heaps easier.

I just got one and it works great. I tried to mount it with steel strapping but it didn't stick out far enough and the tire ripped it off twice. This thing is solid, mounts with existing bolts and I've had no problems.

I have tries the SCOTTS model and another one by BAHA DESIGNS and this is the best of the lot.

I made one out of a piece of sheet aluminum in about 30 minutes. If I only knew how to post the pic. :D

I went a similar route- except I used sheet metal - steel- instead of aluminum. Probably about 20 gauge or so. Shaped like a "T". The bottom of the T faces the front of the bike and attaches to the bolts that hold in the tail light assembly. The top of the T is bent down about 25-30 degrees and hoLds the plate and "turn signals". Makes for a very clean install such that you do not even see the holder, just the plate. :D

I have tried just about everything and it still gets beat to crap when it's under the fender.. I recently mounted it on top of the fender right in front of the tail light and it's still there.. I don't think it's just the tire that gets it but also the rocks kicking up..
