Looking At A Wr 426 What To Look 4

Recommended Posts

Iwant to buy a yz but this is $3000 cad . I rode a bit but I'm not sure how well taken care of it is. Oil was clean. It seems to pull pretty good but I rode a 04 450 that felt more violent( I like). How much compression should it have and what would it take to make it snappy like a 450?

firstly, static compression doesnt tell you anything.

if the bike looks good to you i'd say get it, but before you take it out and ride it into the turf have the clearances checked, put a new cam chain in it, install a k&n paper element fuel filter, and have it jetted properly if it needs it.

the 426's are nearly indestructible from what i've seen. and they'll still run if the cam chain is so stretched the timing is 10degrees out.

Will a compression ck not give you some idea on ringseal.non sealing valves,be it from being burnt wore out or just out of spec?I know i do leak down test but to get a quick idea it's a good test!!!
