Thanks for your help regarding location and alteration of throttle stop on my 00wr400. I successfully completed the project in about an hour but have not had a chance to test it. This bike is brand new, approx. 20 mins of riding, but I could tell I needed more juice. Its been raining here (Dallas/ Ft. Worth, Tx.)for the past three weeks and I cant sleep at night. When I get a chance to ride, should I refrain from full throttle for the first couple of hours?

Thanks again.

when i got my 2k wr i rode it about 0 min. before the exhaust baffle came out. then about 1 ride before the throttle stop came out. then about 5 rides before the yz timing change. then about 10 rides before the new pipe and jetting. haven't ridden it yet since then. waiting for that perfect day!!!

i wouldn't hold it wide open for long but it won't hurt it to see what it's got. just kinda baby it and shift it sooner than normal for a little while.

doing the changes in stages really opens up your eyes to how much a little change can make so much difference in power. when i got mine new it was slower than my old 125. with the throttle stop cut it was as fast, and with the yz timing it was in the 250 zone. now with a pipe and jetting it will spank a 250.

hey, did i ever tell you guys about the time i beat a guy on a kx 500 down a 1/8 mile drag strip with my buddies 99WR400 with yz timing and a white brothers pipe? we were neck and neck but i crossed first!! i think he was kinda scared ?!!!!!

Kenny,

Glad to help. The two bikes I had worked on last Sunday....one of the owners posted here about what a dog the bike was and he wanted to sell it.

It turns out he lives near me and drove up, with his buddies stock 426. I really wanted him to see what some minor work (throttle stop, baffle and air box lid) could do for the performance. I can't wait till he rides his. I should definetly be a eye opener ?

Why don't you register and join us here at TT.

I rode mine around the house completely stock for the first half tank of fuel. I was very protective of my baby. Then I took out the pipe, throttle stop and airbox cover. Ran about a tank through it before I really hopped on it. Changed the oil at 200 miles and have been riding hard ever since.

I was very protective and believe that being causious payed off.

Now if only the wife would let me spend more money.
