Hey Guys,

I finally found the link to the Exhaust shootout. There were quite a few exhaust systems tested. Granted this is on an 03 YZ450F, I would assume that most 450's would be considerably the same, persay, the Suzuki or Honda. Granted there might be slight differences, but based on these results, it might shed some light on those who are looking into getting a new exhasut system.

Well, I guess it depends upon how much you wanna pay per HP for a pipe. Some of the dyno's show 4hp gains, 4hp=6-700 bucks...HEHE

I actually went the other way and bought a Q to be forest service legal. Glad it doesnt wack the power out too bad.

Here is the averages compared to stock in horsepower, weight(slip-ons can't be compared to weight of full system) and volume:

Arakapovic +1.2hp -1lb +1db

DEP +1.2hp -1.3lb +.5db

DSP Ti + .9hp -2lb +.5db

Dubach + .9hp -1.3lb -.5db (weight is for slip-on only)

FMF Ti4 + .8hp -2lb +0db

FMF Q - .7hp -1lb -3db

Jardine RT + 1.6hp -1.3lb +1db

M4 Ti + .6hp -.3lb +.5db

ProCircuit Ti4 +1.1hp -2.2lb +2db (weight is for slip-on only)

White Bros. +.8hp -2.2lb +.5db (weight is for slip-on only)

GYTR Carbon Ti +.8hp -.3lb +1.5db

Yoshimura Tri-oval +.7hp -1.3lb +1.5db

My upgrade was not just for a small hp gain, but if I change something I like to make the bike lighter too. It may not show in one item but when you add/replace a few weight saving items it can make a good difference.

It looks like the Jardine gives the biggest all around boost, FMF Ti and DSP are the lightest and the FMF Q is the least noise. All depends on what you want. :applause:

I am personally thinking of a Jardine for my new 06, but I was also trying to find some dyno stats on a White Bro Carbon or Alum..

The Jardine is very loud, obnoxiously loud. it dose give you a great seat of the pants feel, but it drives me crazy after a long ride. The only thing I use my Jardine for now is Glamis.
I'll stick with my WB E2 for track and trail.

It all depends on what you're starting with.
The stock YZ pipes are great, if a bit loud.
Stock RMZ and DRZ pipes are horrible compared to aftermarket. Same goes for CRFX and WRF.

Much of the gain in aftermarket pipes is from weight saved by getting away from stainless or aluminum and going to Ti or carbon... you can't measure that on a dyno, but it will help.
