Still not happy with Trottle response!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I bought a Leftover 02 WR426 in 04 and have done all the mods that I have come across to try and make it run like a YZ, but am still not happy. I don't know if it is just me, maybe my expectations are too high or something. But I was wondering if anyone here lived near Wichita KS and would be willing to maybe do some comparisons? Or maybe even help out a little with fine tuning. I ride in Texas at Muenster a few times a year and I am planning to join the 500 Acre near Stillwater. I have been there once and really liked it. I could meet someone sometime also. Let me know, Thanks.

I have done all the mods(including YZ timing) and I am not sure what you mean by maping my carb? I am running a JD jetting kit at 2500 feet with a 168 main, 42 pilot, Blue needle #3, and fuel screw 1.75. Thanks,

Josh

What is the grey/blue wire you are talking about? I have the same bike as you and my wire is all grey

They are two seperate wires. The grey wire is CDI and the sky blue wire is neutral switch. Hope this helps.

You could always start the bike in gear. Removing the neutral switch allows for easier starting. I don't remember exactly why, but you can search for it on here or at thumperfaq.com.

Anyone got any ideas related to my post???

Yeah the sky blue wire mod is a good idea. The Spark plug would not get full juice from CDI during neutral position of the tranny. This leads to harder starting and therfore cutting the sky blue wire improved starting. ?

Which brings me to my original question-does anyone actually know what they are talking about??? Who is the person who said its a good idea to cut this blue wire, if they are knowledgeable enough to know to cut it surely they are knowledgable enough to know why it was there in the first place??
