I've heard that they will be sold stock with 13lbs of air in both the front and rear tires instead of last years 15lbs each.

That is a total of 4lbs lighter this year. :)

Good job Honda! :)

The BRP for 2006 will now be known as the RHSC....Red Headed Step Child.

Oh yeah, if you look at the tank graphics 'till you go blind you will notice the tiniest difference. Maybe it gets "Not-Bold New Graphics"?

6 years with the same bike? Hrumph. Of course it could be worse. The "L" has been the same bike since Og used one to chase dinosaurs! Hee Yuk!

Holy crap... I can't believe I missed it! Now why the hell would Honda even bother with a graphics change like that... :)

Honestly, I'm not sure why they keep building 'em. With dealers sitting on '05's, '04's, '03's... hell, I know one dealer that still has an '02 on the floor (wants $4999+++ for it).

I don't predict dealers placing any big orders for '06 stock.

I'm sure that Honda will shove a few down each dealers throat. Which is kind of nice since they may want to unload them at a great price to get ready for the 2007 model (w/BNG).

$5000 OTD for a 03,04,05 or 06 is a great value for this bike. :)

I bet they don't build any more. They probably just peel of the old stickers and slap on new ones! Arrr Arrr!

...just talked to a guy this weekend who said that he had just bought his new '03 for $3400- from a dealer sitting on leftovers. Let them keep pumping out the '06 and beyond, when I'm ready for a new one, there should be some leftovers selling cheap.

Looks like they are just installing the left side tank decal on the right side and vice versa.

Hey guys, actually this is good news. Last year everyone was predicting the demise of the XR650R in 05 but there it is an 05 model. Now there is an 06 model. Honda has not given up on a bike that successfully fills a niche. I'm sure many dealers have a problem moving them but they must move enough that Honda is going to give us one more year. I personally am very glad.

Maybe this is an indicator the the supposed CRF600 may continue the reliability that Honda was always known for until the CRF line was introduced to satisfy the cravings of the lets make it lighter crowd. Honda is quickly losing its reputation for reliability and now is just like everyone else. At this point Honda only trusts their air cooled CRF line enough to let their customers purchase extended warrantees of up to 41/2 years. Maybe they realize this and they are banking on the fact that people will start wanting reliability in a bike over lightness. Maybe they realize that the lets make it lighter crowd will start to be upset by the cost of keeping it running. Not everyone is rich! Just maybe the days of ride it and park it bikes are not over after all.

Check the 2010 XR 650 for any changes... They seem to be a bit slow on the upgrades. Ken if you're waiting for that next Honda big bore, keep your Husaberg running for a long time. Besides it's a lot cooler and faster.

Hey Morg -

Isn't that your plan with the DT...

Yeah the old DT is still running after 30 years, another 5 should be easy... Besides, how could I ever give up that four inches of suspension travel and snappy graphics.

Maybe now with the sucessful test flights of the Honda Jet and Turbine engine testing they can start putting the R&D money back in the motorcycle division.

the dealer I picked mine up from can't keep the 650R's in stock.

He hooked me up with a brand new '05 for < $5,000 pre tax. I couldn't believe it till after I counted out the benjamins and rode away on the new piggy :)

I bought a new 03 two months ago for $4,799.00 OTD. I love these bikes.

Me like the leftover deals, I've bought 4 in the last ten years and rode for cheap, this was my first one 1986 XR600R $2700 OTD in mid 1987 rode it 3 years and sold it for $2300 never touched it except tires and oil changes.
