How tall are you, how much do you weigh, and what is your skill level?

I have a ttr 125 and I continually  wish I had gotten a crf.  I mean no insult to the ttr but the bikes frame does not stand up well to the rigors of a larger and improving rider.  From what I have been able to gather the crf has a complete frame and the rest of the bike is bilt to abuse, hence the large difference in weight.  I have seen alot of dyno's getting  close to the 20 hp range w the crf also,  and unfortunalely the ttr would probably never reach 15.  Then you add in the  fact that reger engineering can set up a crf w/cr 85 suspension it is almost a no brainer.

Well, my wife has a ttr125le.  She loves it.  She's 5'4, 110, blue eyes...whoops, tmi....anyway, i've ridden it, and it IS a bike made for a woman.  Electric start and super light.  Perfect.

Get the honda.

I'd get the TTR over the 150. I've ridden my dads 230. My TTR just seems more comfortable ergonomic wise, the CRF has a flat hard seat that is pretty wide and quite frankly bugged the hell out of me. On the TTR e-start is nice and all, but once it's jetted right I'd save yourself some money and get a kick only L model.

Personally I can't say which is better since I don't have either one.  I just say read these threads very thoroughly and learn what the recurring problems are with both bikes.  I've seen threads that repeatedly state the same thing wrong from many different owners.  Then figure out which one fits your "comfort" range in accepting potential problems.
This is what I've noticed: TTR - weaker frame design
CRF - kick start gears weak
Then sit on both bikes, if you can ride them once around the parking lot, and decide away.  Good Luck! :)

CRF150 sits taller, has much better suspension, stronger frame, more horsepower, more torque and is more comfortable for a larger rider.

The TTR125L or LE is much better compared to the XR100.

if u get the TTR i would never get the e-start u dont need and e-start for any thing that is 450 or below and if u cant start u shouldn't be riding it.

Go with the 150.  It is better than the TTR in every aspect. If you plan on taking any jumps bigger than trail whoops, the TTR may give out, the CRF will keep chugging along.  Not only is the frame way stronger than the TTR's, but the suspension is way beefier.  I am not just talking about suspension travel, the fork tubes are way thicker.  Also, the 150 may weigh a bit more, but the engine more than makes up for it.  And if you want a bike that you will not get tired of in a month, go with the CRF.

WHOA!!! Hold up there. I see a LOT of misinformation in this post. :)

First, the electric start model (TTR125LE) is BY FAR the best to get, period.

For $200 more you get-
Magic button
Aluminum swingarm (longer/wider/stiffer)
Preload adjustable forks
And most importantly, a completely different, fully adjustable and REBUILDABLE shock with a remote resevior!!!

I've also heard that the springs are stiffer front and rear on the LE, but I can't confirm that.

I've ridden both the TTR and the CRF extensively in dirt and motard trim. The CRF is definitely a better TRAIL bike for a larger person (over 135lbs) than the TTR, and would probably stand up to jumps in stock form better. Other than that, the TTR is WAY more fun to ride, much easier to ride fast, easier to load, easier to pick up, easier to jump, easier to wheelie, easier to stoppie, ect, ect, ect...

As far as power goes, the weight of the CRF negates any advantage it may have. My moderately mod'ed TTR would pull away from my buddy's similarly mod'ed CRF in every drag race we tried. From the start to 5th gear. I could carry more corner speed and would pull on him down the straits too. He sold his CRF and bought a TTR.

IHMO, the CRF is a turd as far as performance is concerned. However, it's a Honda, and is built like a tank, so it would most likely last forever if taken care of. But then again, so will a TTR... :)

Please go with the TTR. I have had mine for 4 years and it has never failed me. As far as jumping I hit a 35 foot double all the time at my house with stock suspension and havent bottomed it out many times at all unless i landed bad. Take the TTR you won't regret it.
