yzman just posted this for me on the dualsports forum....and if you've read enough of his posts you can be assured he knows what he is talking about! Thanks again yzman:

Hey ExTex. You can get your bike legal way cheeper than the Trick dual sport kit. All you need is the following

Hydraulic brake light switch $15-20 www.bajadesigns.com

Acerbis Mirror $15 www.Rockymountainmc.com

Toggle switch $3 Radiioshack

Some wire and connectors $10 Radiioshack

DOT Kenda Trackmaster tires $75 a pair thru www.Rockymountainmc.com

Honda Kill switch $10 Honda

Radioshack Personal alarm and 9v battery $10 Radioshack

Insurance $50 thru www.bike-line.com

Here is the horn. Just wire the Honda Kill switch to the alarm. Open the alarm up and there are 2 metal tabs with wires on them. cut the metal tabs off and attach the wires to the kill switch. Instant horn.

Your rear tailight is already wired for a tailight / brakelight. You just need to splice in and wire in the hydraulic pressure switch. Pretty easy really.

The headlight is a high low bulb. But like the tailight isn't wired. Take the toggle switch and wire it in so you have high/low beam.

That should do you. $140 is way cheeper than any dual sport kit you will find.

I went to a mountain bike store and got a good quality left side mirror $5 and squeeze horn $10.... The horn needed to hit a certain decibel and the one I got was rated for the street. It looks like a clown horn... I zip tied it to a bracket already on the bike behind the light of to the left so I can prove to the cops I can squeeze it and still ride. two years of use and it still works. I have only had to replace the mirror once so far, so I keep a spare in my tool box.

Did the tail light with the defuser thing.

Still running 759's (3rd one) and I get a sticker no problem from my shop...

I live in NH the "Live Free or Die" state, so far so good.

there is a guy from kaysville who sells really clean kits. I have one and I love it. very clean and simple for a just barley legal kit..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4554189458&category=35594&sspagename=WDVW

I have that kit too, super easy to install, good directions and it's cheap.

He was nice to deal with too when I had questions.

I also bought a K&S Hi/low beam switch from dennis kirk and those litez 'n bolts for the rear plate.

Here is my cheap and easy way to street legal....

Hydraulic brake light switch $20

Acerbis mirror $20

turn signals extend arm straight for left turn, 90 degrees for right turn ?

Acerbis led tail light $35

insurance $50 for both bikes

license plate ~$50 per bike

Horn gee officer.... it must have fallen off on the last trail

Dunlop 739's but officer..... they are worn down to the DOT specification.

Moral to the story....I have been pulled over numerous times and have never had them ask about the horn or the DOT tires. Here in Colorado....all they want to see is that green plate with white letters on the back.

I am not a wiring guru. Could someone please provide a bit more detail on this? Thanks! :D

Found this but still seeking a bit more instruction, wire color, etc. Thanks.

"Yes, you need the K&S pressure switch (size 10X1.25) and screw it ino the rear master cylinder. Now take the 2 wires from the switch, "T" one side into the power for the running light wire and the other side into the stop wire coming from the original WR tail lamp. Now you will have a stop light, but only with headlamps on."

Found this too- any part #'s on Radio shack item?

"Go to the Baja Designs web site and order the brake switch for the Nissan master cylinder. Very simple install. The stock WR450 light has 3 terminals with the 1157 bulb already installed, so all you need to do is connect the wires. I changed out the stock plug-in connector with a new 3 wire plug-in from Radio Shack to make the connections clean."

My hydraulic switch died after 1 1/2 years. I went out and took the Yamaha mechanical switch off my S(treet)L(egal) XR600. It is ~14 years old and works fine....got it cheap from Yamaha dealer, don't recall the part number, but it was 1/2 the price of the hydraulic sw. and lots longer lasting...

You probly don't need DOT tires, I don't have them on mine, but AZ is pretty lenient...
