Thanks!

Lytle creek area. But very similar to most of the San Gabriel and San Bernadino mtns.

LA actually has a lot of decent riding areas not that far from the massive population.

It also seems odd to be within a couple hours of 16 million people but then be able to ride for a couple hours and not see another person close.

Well I finally got around to doing the mods to the big XRL.

I had bought most of the stuff and just hadn't got around

to putting it on the bike. The crappy weather here in WA

gave me some time and it's been a lot of fun. I'll post pics

of some of the things I did as well.

First, here's how it used to look after I bought it:

DSCN2600.jpg

Here's a pic after the mods:

P1030177.JPG

Mods that came with the bike:

FMF Q4 Slipon muffler
CycleRacks rack  (removed, more on that later)
Desmogged
Hand Guards

Mods I've done so far:

Rear Fender clean up (Light, license plate holder)
Rear LED Turn Signals (removed factory brackets)
Desnorkled
Unifilter
Dave's mods
Skid plate
Clarke 4.7 gas tank
Sutton Oil Cooler (this thing is SWEET!)
Dip stick with guage
Magnetic drain plugs for engine case and frame
XR650 14 tooth counter shaft sprocket
Full Highway Dirtbikes conversion including bars and built in front LED turn signals
HID Headlight
Diode kit from Procycle to fix turn signal alert
Pillow Top grips
Pivot Pegz

I tried to focus on the things that would improve performance
while keeping the engine stock and also the few issues that
are known with the XRL's such as heat buildup and counter
shaft wear.

I also like to stand a lot when I ride and at 6'-2", I had to
raise the bars and move them forward. Paul at Highway
Dirtbikes gave me everything I needed. I firmly believe
that this is the strongest set up out there and will pay big
dividends over the years as the bike is laid down (hopefully
not THAT much ; ).

I'd like to do a longer thread on the build and share some
of the things I found out (what was difficult, some tips, etc.)
but I'm not sure which thread to put it in.

Next big expense is on the suspension. Doing a full shock
and front fork overhaul at Devol Racing in Enumclaw, WA.

Many more pics to come!

Greg

Looks nice.  Seat looks like a cover from a 97 or 98.Either way, nice ride.

Bought this beauty today! I really don't know much about it besides it's a 94 with 2k miles on it and a larger gas tank and different carb. First dual sport so I'm excited!
