Elaho Valley FSR ride today. The mist from the falls was the next best thing to an ice cold beer.

How do you guys post pictures on the posting like this one that I am quoting?

The Pig sporting a new tail light, numbers, and 14/48 gearing.

She must have been feeling pretty spry today; she threw me hard into the dirt at the clay pit. There were some new rain ruts at the very top of a steep incline that I slowed to avoid and I allowed the engine to die on me. It was the wrong place to be with no forward momentum and no motor. I fell hard right, back down the incline with the bike above me. No real harm done to me or the Pig, but when I finally got the bike down the hill, I looked back up the trail, winced, tucked my tail and rode home.

Sorry for the poor quality cell phone pictures.

WPS (Western Power Sports) Universal Brake Tail Light #60-1455 ~$13. Off the parts store on this site.

Fits perfect (ok I did have to cut the existing tail light wire and splice in the new one) and has a license plate window for the light to shine through. I made a T shaped bracket to hold the plate and move it a bit closer to the light.

The light mounts in the existing holes and fits pretty much perfectly. I user nylock 1/4-20 nuts so that I did not have to overtighten things.

The plate is mounted on a T shaped piece of 1/8" aluminum, to move it a bit closer to the light. I should have used thinner head bolts under the plate that holds the bracket to the fender, but I used what I had at the time.

So is that the stock 650L rear fender? Or a 600 fender? Did you have to do anything special with the turn signals?

Stock 650L fender, didn't mess with the turn signals. I am not the original owner, and when I removed the seat I saw that the turn signal wires had been cut and reattached. Don't know why they look stock to me, perhaps a previous owner took them off and the another one put them back on.

Adding the tail light is a simple thing. Sorry I can't recall the exact wiring. I think the light white/blue striped wire (or white/some color stripe) is the ground, just search the forum and I think others have it laid out. It is plenty bright and looks great.

Here are a few pics I took on a ride I took, somewhere :) in the Oregon Cascades this past weekend.

I got a new hammock for my birthday that I've been wanting to test out and got my chance during a mid ride break...including short nap. Lots of wild rhododendron growing in the area. Hammock and tree straps worked like a charm...zzzzzz

Here's a view from the top of a 200ft drop off. Love this part of the country. Yes those are shotgun shells, no they're not mine (littering bastards are the reason these areas keep getting closed down).

One word of caution if you ever need to replace the bulb. The four screws on the back are not all the same length. 2 are slightly longer. At a glance, they are look the same length but when you go to put them in, if you put a long one in the short hole and then try to force it the rest of the way in, the head comes right off the screw. Ask me how I know. :) :) ;)
