XR650L- Best Bike in the world-

Recommended Posts

I took my kids out to Cahuilla last Saturday for some track time. I let my son ride my RM250 as his CRF250R is getting "another" set of valves (Oh Joy!) so I took my XR650R with it's dual sport kit - license plate and blinkers - Oh My!- out on the main track. Thing worked pretty good! It's got RaceTech legs and it handled Cahuilla's roughness great! Hmmmmm.....instead of big boring a CRF250 for the Vet Class, maybe I can jettison some piggy fat and make the Vet Class Godzilla From Hell!

Mwaaa Haaaa Haaaa!

Oh yeah....L's are poo poo!

Yeah, the whole thing really has been beat to death. Malachi, shouldn't you be arguing in the Suzuki threads about which Suzuki dealer has the best mechanics for fixing broken down DRZ's?

When B-Dub said he was going, he REALLY WAS going! Thought I'd see him on this thread again. I bet he peeks in once-in-awhile. ?

You my friend have no clue, get your facts straight :D

The DRZ400S is the most sold, and most popular dualsport of all time....and reliable as all hell.... Go on any organized dualsport ride and you'll see that 2 thirds of the bikes are DRZ's....nice try though :D:D

By the way, I never slagged the 650L, I even said it was a great bike ( look at my post), I just set the record straight about the power between the two bikes ?..no need to be getting all sensitive :D

It probably sells because Suzuki practically gives them away with their financing deals and discounts.

BWB is back with a vengeance! ? He's thrown enough insults around to catch just about everyone, so that should keep this thread active for awhile.

Let's pick on sportbike guys for a second. Here's some motorcycle accident photos for you.

Hmm, the worst street bike accident I've ever seen live was a street bike running basically through a horse. I mean I came by after it happened but horse, rider, bike where still at the place and the ambulance had not arrived.

That was some long stretched curve over a bridge, behind that bride was a path where horseback riders usually crossed the street. That long stretched curve on the other hand allowed speeds easily to be around the 160mph and more. Man, I saw that poor horse laying on the side of the street trying to get up while its rear end was almost completely detached from the front. The bike some 1000cc Kawa was almost a mile down the road after it hit the horse. Don't know if the rider made it but the horseback rider was OK because we saw her later in front of the hospital at my small local town back then.

That really makes you think what road you take at full speed....

What do you expect?? Comming into the Honda part of TT and praising your DRZ ?

Especially where we have an argument between "R" and "L"s going on... come on, if you only ride with those short guys no wonder you have 2 thirds Suzi because its the kids bike and not meant to be for serious stuff :D

That's likely to leave an imprint on your brain forever. ?

Worst one I saw happened when I was coming out of a restaurant in Penticton. Some guy on a Harley was turning left out of the parking lot and got t-boned by a car coming the other way. He was the only one hurt, lying there in the middle of the street. I could see his lips moving, and I'm sure he survived, but he wasn't moving much, other than his mouth. Ug.

Hey Malachi, you short little man, do you follow the yellow brick road home to Munchkin Land? ?

When did I praise my DRZ ? .....I stated the facts and told the truth, if that's praising well I guess I was...... and once again... I even said the L was a great bike.......

Maybe I should of just said the DRZ would suck the grips off an L....:D :D but I won't bash the bike because it is very good, but not as good as..... :D

.....this is fun :D

Maybe BW needs to chime in with some technical data to advise you - LOL

Its nice that you like your bike but it will always be a SUZUKI. And if you are that tall, why do you prefere to ride with your knees under your chin on such a little bike??? :D

Oh thats right, I've heard that the DRZ riders lately have taken over Starbuks and you might be able to hold that coffee mug better between you knees while you are trying to hold on to the bike?? ?

There is nothing better than a XR650L except maybe if we ever can figure that out a XR650R but that is still open for discussion here!!

1. What's up with the short/small references...the seat heights are identical (36.8" for the DRZ, and 37" of the XRL) and the bike is not small....except for the fact that it is 32 pounds lighter than the XRL ? and way cheaper to insure because of the displacement ?

2.....who the hell is BW :D

3. maybe Burned should chime in then with even more technical data :D

4. I just got back from Starbucks :D

He doesn't know about the legend, B-Dub! Dude, he's a Baja racer who lost one hand in the San Felipe 250. Now, he's got a hook for a hand, and he still races!! ?

When clowns are training to ride those tiny little bikes in their circus acts, they train with DRZ650's.

XR-Det - Dude, you really must be a tad crazy for speed!

I remember another wipe-out - kind of comical, because no one was seriously hurt. Riding my Harley up a mountain rode, north of Kelowna, toward Big White resort (ski and mountain bike). This guy was riding along 50ft in front of me with one hand on the cooling fins, trying to keep warm. We approach a really tight hairpin - 180 degrees - I see his hand fly back up onto the handlebars, but he started his turn too late, and too tight. The peg hit first (obviously), and he did a power slide across the road into the gravel. Good thing no one was coming. We were warned about that corner though, so it's his own fault!!

hehehe, I remember those moments... I mean when you just got by with some little scratches and thought like puuhhh that was close. Maybe I need to scan the pic of the first car, that one looks bad and I got out with just some little scratches. Back then I must have had more luck than sense. I grew up in Germany, was great over there with no speed limits on the Autobahn. I really miss those times when you could just put the pedal to the metal and run whatever your car would go leagal or your bike... well not a XRL. Those highways here in the US suck ?
