my 04 has a button ignition switch. i'm gonna be using it as a commuter and would like to have some extra security(obvious security) of having a key style ignition. where can i pick one up? can i use one off an 03? anyone doing this?

I did and it works GREAT! I used the key switch off a TT-R125LE. $55 bucks for the setup at the local Yami shop. The reason I went with the OEM switch over a cheapy aftermarket was that I could wire this one so easily. The wiring for the TTR is identical to the WR and all I had to do was extract the pins from the TTR connector and reinsert them (in the same locations) into the WR connector.

Here's a few photos of what mine looks like:

If you relocated the original button to somewhere hidden, you could put in a fake switch that would fool the theif, that's my plan. The only difficulty will be relocating the red indicator light with the button so you would be sure to see it. I left mine on overnight once and it started just fine, so I don't think "on" draws any current except the LED (or I was lucky). ?

I put a keyed switch on my 04. The best one I could find was for a Honda CRF230, it was less than half the price of a Yamaha one. It also has 2 sets of contacts so it can be wired in to the kill switch circuit as well as replace the power on switch. I made a bracket to mount it in the stock location and added a LED for indication. Looks factory and was easy to do.
