Hello all,
Dose anyone know what a slipper clutch is or what it is meant to do?

Cheers

Basically, it eliminates engine braking by allowing the clutch to only turn one way and "slip" the other.

Supposedly it makes a 4 stroke feel more like a 2 stroke on the track.

cool thanks, i see that there are quite a few people who put them on bikes they use for Supermoto. I presume it isnt really esigned for motocross then.

i have one installed in an '04 yz450 and use it for pro mx....definitely worth the cash if you want to get rid of the decompression braking....9thereby giving it the 2 stoke feel)

I would think the compression (engine braking) would be an advantage?? it helps slow the bike down when you want it to?

I guess if you didn't want the rear wheel to lock up under engine braking, a slipper would be a good thing.

I have noticed that very fast people dont use engine braking generally (I do and like it, maybe I am not fast) They are either on the gas all the way or braking, not much coasting in their styles. Engine braking is good when coasting or maybe to initiate a slide/turn. Using both brakes is much more effective.
