Coil instead of spark plug wire for digital tach?

I put a digital tach/hour meter on spark plug wire but doesn't work. Do I need to attach it to the coil? Where is the coil to attach to?

The coil on the 450's is in the spark plug connector itself. You have to wind the wire around it at the top of the valve cover...SC

Thanks Steve for the speedy response!

So it is the vertical cylinder part of plug connector not the horizontal portion above it?

I would have never guessed that, thanks for the help!

This is how you need to wrap the wire around the coil.
