Milkman, Question for you!

Recommended Posts

Darrin,

I sent you an email, don't know if you got it. So here I go. I was wondering if you painted your tank yellow or did you use one of those paintable covers. I want to get the One Idustries "Hannah" kit for my bike. Enlighten me!

Thanks

Bill

PS: Do you know who makes the paintable covers?

Hi Bill, I got your e-mail but I will post the response I gave you in e-mail here too in case anyone else might be intrested.:

I wouldnt paint it if I were you. Seen a guy do that once on his bike and it cracked really bad and started looking real bad after several rides. I got a clear or natural tank for my bike. Made by Clarke. I figured if I wanted to go back to blue then it would still look good too. Plus the extra capicity and the slim feel of the YZ tank and seat. No tank is included in the price

of the kit.

If you have the money and the time to do it, I suggest painting the frame too. I sent it off and had it powdercoated by Andrews powdercoating in CA.

They did an awesome job. The same guy that painted his tank also left his frame blue and it just didnt look right. Plus the black frame also goes with any color plastic.

Its all a bit to deal with but once youre done its well worth it. If you do it, let me know how it turns out.

ps. Heres a pic or two of mine to let you know how it turns out with the Clarke tank.

Your right Kevin, the tank sticker lasted about 6-7 months and they started to peel off so I went ahead and tore them off. But thats ok because I think it looks better without the stickers on the tank anyways.

Thanks bryan, so kind of you to say. And it is a fact it adds another 4-5 horsepower to the bike. I just dont know how to use it. he he ?

Its a MSR or Moose. Whichever you get they are both exactly the same plate and out of all the skid plates I have seen this is by far the plate with the most coverage. The only downfall is that since it is bigger it tends to hold a little more mud but I think the protection is worth it.

I give it a 9 out of 10 stars.
