I'm doing a rebuild on a 92 XR600R (its first). The decompressor cam seems to have some looseness on the camshaft. It can move 1/16" in the lobe direction and 1/32" along the shaft. If I shake it the whole thing it rattles. Also the one way clutch rotates freely in both directions. I assume I have to tear apart the whole thing?

Mike.

Do away with auto -decomp. Buy an after market cam & then you don't have to worry about working on the one you have and welding up the little oil passages. I wish I would have . There is pictures some where of how to remove auto-decomp somewhere by thumpertdc I beleive . Used to be on the old hondaxr.com forum. Also bike is much easier to start after mod .
