Which would make a better trail bike?
WR 400 1999 one owner excellent shape 2000 mi $2,650
XR 600 1995 one owner excellent shape low miles $1,700
6'1" 210 I have done quite a bit of riding in past years.
Which one would be more trouble free and reliable?

Thanks

Speakling strictly in terms of reliability I'd say the XR. However, I think the WR's and YZF's have proven themselves to the most reliable of the newer generation 4 strokes (my .02).

The WRF is a newer generation bike and has features on it that make the XR6 (or any XR) look pretty old hat. I know you'll find this hard to believe but the WRF makes more horsepower than a stock XR600! It has upside-down front forks that were a little harsh on this model but overall the suspension works better than an XR6. The only weak point in the package was the huge and ugly 12 litre tank. Reliability-wise the XR6 is tougher though and if you're chasing a bike that will be generally more reliable and you aren't riding too much tight terrain, go for the XR, they're still not a bad tool!
