Hey,
I'm almost 16 and I'm looking for a new bike. I'm looking at the crf 150 and 230. I got an xr80 back in 2000 and rode it for about 2 years then stopped riding. I'm 5'6"-7" and about 165 lbs. Which do you recommend I get?
Thanks
suggestion on which bike

How tall do you think you'll be?
What type of riding do you want to do?
If you're just a beginner and are cool with trails and just having fun, then O.K. If, however, you are the typical 16 year old and want to jump over the house so you can pick up on all the hot chicks, well then we might need to look at other bikes.
Keep in mind that I'm thinking about being 16. You could be still growing and as I recall, the only two years I didn't ride every second was when I was 16. I started killing brain cells and chasing girls.
Times have changed though. Now it's all about the girls and sticking metal in your lip, eye brow, and tongue. Anyway, tell everyone what you want to accomplish and I'm sure you'll get an appropriate answer.

My recommendation is to get the CRF230. Do some mods to it and you will have fun on the trail or on the track. Very inexpensive option ... electric start is very nice. I am the same height ... a lot older and I can jump it ... corner it ... and trail ride. A pipe and rejet; new air fileter; snorkle out ... will make the 230 scream for a trail bike. My two cents ... also, I would think that resale or trade-in value would be better.
Have fun regardless!

IMHO, if you're 5'7", you're too big for the 150. My fiance is 5'3" and it fits her just about right.

If you want to trail ride, get the 230. If you want to play ride, get the 150. If you want to go fast and jump get a yz125 and health insurance.
