how/what to do XR 600

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 1995 xr 600 totally stock. I took out the baffle and opened the air box. I have been wondering do I need to re-jet? I am about 3000 ft. above sea level. The bike seems to run excellent as is. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

depending on how much more air is available to your engine, you may need to re-jet. if it's not acting lean (hard starting, bogging, hot running) then i wouldn't worry about it. you could do a few plug chops for good measure.

IMO, you'll get better power (especially at low RPM) with a high flow head pipe than with an opened baffle, and you won't be one of those loud azzwholes.

also, the consensus on TT is against K&N air filters but my 85 600R has had one for 10+ years and she runs like a raped ape with TONS of compression.
