magnetic drain plug

i just put in a magnetic drain plug on my last oil change and noticed it has picked up some stuff when i did a oil change last, is this normal? if so how much?

Everytime I do an oil change I have a small amount of metal shavings. This is normal wear and tear. Isn't this the reason you are using the magnetic drain plug?
