I am trying to juice up my 2007 crf230 and need to know how or where to order the following parts..... (please tell me if this is what I really need)
16012-KPS-921 – Needle (Includes Power up needle, Clip, and needle jet)
99113-GHB-XXX0 – Main jet (Where XXX is the size)
99103-MT2-0XX0 – Pilot jet (Where XX is the size)
What does the XX need to be?  I live in Phoenix and ride at about 1500-2200 ft elevation. Do I need to order all the parts, and what comes in the "kit". I got the part #s here on Thumpertalk and the guy at Honda got really confused when I told him what I wanted, which I basically just showed him the list above.  Could someone tell me what to order and maybe suggest an online site? They wanted about $40 at Honda :-(
thanks guys!

I installed a 42p/115m combo tonight in my 08 CRF 150.  I have removed the exhaust baffle, the snorkel and the backfire screen and it seems to start a heck of a lot easier now.  I don't even need to use the choke to start it now.  Is that ever a nice change.  I noticed that some other people have used a different needle with 5 grooves on it.  I'm pretty much at sea level here, so do I need to change that needle?  Do I just use the one specified at the start of this thread or is there one that is specific to '06 and up?  I'll be picking up my Uni air filter on the weekend and I'll let you know if I see any difference up top in the revs.

I tested it yesterday and it's like an entirely different bike!  It has a tonne more snap down low and up high it goes like crazy.  I added a Uni air filter too.  Wow this is like a whole new bike!

with a 42 pilot my '08 backfired a bit and that off idle bog was too annoying.  I threw in a 45 and it cleared up the backfiring and helped a lot with that bog.  That 115 seemed a bit rich for me as well but it makes sense since we have different climates and what not.

i uncorked my wifes 06' 150F and went with the majority of reccomendations using a 115 main and found it too rich, way too rich actually. I pulled the snorkel and fitted a hi flow air filter, uncorked the standard exhaust too. with a 110 main it's perfect at sea level, very snappy, very easy to start. I'll use the 115 when her new exhaust arrives and see if it copes with it in that set up.
just to clarify the needles, the earlier bike has a 5 groove needle, the later ones (button start?) have a 2 groove needle, so you need the power up needle or an early stock needle to get the choice of grooves when you need to richen it a little.
very useful thread overall though, glad it was a sticky.

Hey Guys
I have questions about jetting and the stock needle.

I have a 2005 150F that I got for my wife to ride and we are running at altitudes of 3500 to 5500 here in Montana so I’m trying to decipher what jetting to use for this altitude.  I’ve already done a few of the mods and still have a few to go (when the parts get here).  So far I took out the snorkel, exhaust baffle, backfire screen and going to put in a Uni filter.

So now the question is the jetting.  I put in a 42P and 105 and I have a 108 on order with the dealer, or should I stay with the 105 for high altitude running?  And she does run a bit better but still has the “idle to quick throttle cough”.  Its hard for me to tell how well this bike is performing cuz my bike is the 450X with JD,FMF PWR Bomb, white bros muffler and open air box (WOW its a monster).  Its not like comparing apples and oranges, more like Civics and  Porsche I don’t have a good reference to compare it to.

“Now for the big question”, I asked the dealer for the Power now needle # -16012-KPT-921, which “sticky” recommended.  The funny thing is when we looked up the number the parts guy showed me the parts schematic, he said that the needle was already in my bike because it comes stock on the 03 to 05 150F.  Could that be right?  It’s a 5 clip needle that I put on the 4th clip as recommended.  Just to clarify to make sure Im doing this right, the 4th clip is the second to last from the fat/flat end of the needle, not the pointy of the needle. The pointy side would be the first clip (if I’m doing that right).

So does the 05 150F come with the Power now needle -16012-KPT-921 ?

Thanks again for all the help here guy, any info you guys could give me would help greatly with this VODO called carb tuning 

clip position is counted from the blunt end to pointy end w/ 1 being closest to the blunt end. 4th clip position should be the 4th groove down from the blunt end. sounds like you have it on the second clip position vs fourth.

Thanks KK, I'll check it and fix if needed when I get my 108m jet.  also, anyone have an idea about the Power up Needle being stock on the 03 to 05 bikes as I was told my my Honda dealer?

I don't believe it is. If I were you, I'd just use the stock needle in the 4th clip position as the power up needle is leaner, not richer than the stock one... at least that's the way the 230 power up needle, when compared to the stock one, is.

the power up needle is leaner on the E-start 150's too.  On the other hand, it has a lot more adjustability.

During the CA summertime heat, I've found that the 105 main and 45 pilot work pretty well with the clip in the 3rd position on the power up needle.  Still doing some tuning though to get the most "seat of the pants" power.

I bought a 2011 150F for my girlfriend

between 400 and 1000 ft

I read the tread so...

Mainjet... something near to 112
Pilot Jet ... 42
Needle 16012-KPT-921 in the 4th position
Twinair air filter
Removed backfire screen
Snorkel removal

Remove the baffle (I rear on other website I should drill some 1/4 inch hole in it, unless I gonna loose some power)

Does anyone have the exhaust baffle that they don't want? I just got a 150 and it didn't come with one and I need to quiet it down. PM me, please.

I just finished doing the powerup mod to my 06' CRF150F, and when it's idling and I pin the throttle, it bogs for a second and then revs up. It did not do this before and I'm kinda a noob with troubleshooting so if someone could tell me the cause of this and how to fix it, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Mitchell
