What are my options for new wheels?

OK, I use my bike quite a bit on the street, so I was thinking about getting a second set of rims so i could have a set with street tires, and a set with dirt tires.

What are my options if I'm looking to do this as affordably as possible? Thanks.

Under $300 for a rear wheel complete is good off ebay.

I have seen a stock set go for more then $800 front and back.

I waited two years and got a rear for $280.

Rad hubs and spokes are the best way to go new.

Team Honda had a small spacer setup made three years ago so they could run XR 600 rear wheels on their 650's. You can contact Bruce at American Honda for details. He loaned a Score Class 40 team I was with a copy, so we could have some made up too. That team has since quit racing and sold everything. Steny

Man, I can't believe that on a 6 thousand dollar bike, the wheels make up close to 20% of the bike's cost!! What gives

Supply and demand. I bought a set on E-bay for 600.00 shipped to me with like new m21s with the spacers, rotors and sprocket. The wheels are like new. They are hanging in the rafters. I have seen a set go for 900+. Watch e-bay daily. I saw these wheels at 2 am, 1.5 hours after they were listed. I was the 7th person to view the auction. They had a buy it now of 525.00. I was shocked. Had I not seen them they would have been gone by morning.

Parts are very expensive when purchased seperately. For instance, if you added up the price of all the individual parts to make a XR650R, you'd probably total ~$10K+ and that's without the labor of putting it together. It's the same thing with anything such as a drill. You can buy a 3/8 drill in a nice kit with bits, etc, for $65. If you bought each part seperately, you'd be paying a bundle...$45 armature, $20 brushes, $25 trigger switch, $30 housing, $15 chuck, $7 key, $12 power cord, $10 screws / nuts / bolts, $25 plastic case, $4 per bit, etc.

keep checking e bay look under honda rims thats where I found mine,I had to look at a load of car rims but I got a pair for $110.00 including tires and shipping. so be patient the deals are out there

Ya almost nailed it

I went to buy some batteries for my two Makita's last year and didn't want to spend ~$100 (~$50 each) for batteries, so I went to Harbor Freight and bought two 18V cordless drills with keyless chucks, extra batteries, rapid charger, drill bits, nice plastic case for $19.95 each and the extra batteries were only $9.95 each through a special Thanksgiving holiday sale they had and I had a 10% off coupon which brought down my total with tax to be just a bit over $60 with a two year unconditional warranty which I will use. I unloaded my two Makita's to a neighbor for $100 each, so it was like getting paid $140 to get these drill kits with extra batteries Harbor Freight sells Makita, Dewalt, Milwauke and various house branded equipment, some of which is actually very nice and some is pure junk, but these particular inexpensive untis appear to be a good quality product and have been working out very well.
