No it wont, it is well into the 100's 103 - 105 I would bet

I would get the Whye Brothers E2 from http://shop.thumpertalk.com

It tests at 96db nice and legal and if you are on a private track or racing where no noise cap is needed, pop out the core for more noise.

The E2 is just as good with the core in then out, only diffrerance is Noise

I hates Noise

I just had my 04 tested for kicks by a crew doing sound testing for an enduro several weeks ago.

They revved it to spec using a tachometer, then took a sound level test.

It measured 99.5db with a stock pipe. I was completely surprised it fell below the 100db max limit for the race. Now I just have to figure out how to make a spark arrester for her.

I had the silent insert in and the spark arrestor. I also talked to your tech support about it the said they didn't have any other suggestions about what to do. I spent $135 and it was the worst money I spent. I can't afford to go buy another exhaust system and really do not want to. The idea of it is great, so when I do go to the track I can take the silencer insert off. I repacked my muffler this year and will be doing some CCC rides "Hopefully" if my exhaust allows it. My cousin has a YZ250F that at rest was 99db. If you have any more suggestions that your tech didn't tell me please let me know. I need a quiet bike for the trail which is 99% of my riding. I don't mean to sound like a A** but there was not one 4 stroke that passed the sound inspection with a pro moto billet spark arrestor/ silencer insert at the Fall color tour, in Kalkaska, MI. When I ask about how to pass on this web site nobody gives me a straight answer because only California and Michigan need to pass a db range of 93db. The only way is to buy a FMF Q2 exhaust or put a WR exhaust on that will affect the power, and it is also not interchangeable for tracks.

according to www.dirtrider.com/tech/141_0303_pip/ the stock db is 103

"Stock Material: Titanium header with stainless mid-pipe, aluminum canister and Ti end-cap Style: Complete system Decibels: 103 Fit: A Weight: 6 lb 12 oz Spark Arrestor: None "

this is the 2003 model but as far as i know the 2004 and 2005 models have no change to the exhaust system.

Mr. Pro Moto Billet if jetting plays such a big role in the db level and mine is stock what should my jetting be at. Also when you say "spot on" in your response to me what does that mean. I also have got the same answer in your response from everbody else, about what is around when testing, and the temp. The question I have is, this product is sold in Michigan, on all the CCC " Cycle Conservation Club" rides that I have been on, nobody has been able to pass. You "Pro Moto Billet" advertises the product to make the bike 93db "IT DOES NOT PASS" and you do not guarantee this product. Why would I recommend this product to anybody where I live. I cannot tell the DNR officer to move his station around the woods to get the best readings "THEY ARE THE LAW". If Pro Mot Billet would just make a product that just passes instead of "coulda, woulda, and shoulda" I would definitely recommend this product. When asked know, I tell the people not to waste the time and agervation on your product, and buy a FMF Q2. The point of this matter is, I don't want the run around maybe it is a harder test in MI, and maybe PMB should do some testing out here instead of wide open CALF. especially if your going to sell your product here, the only other state that has a 93db level.

My bike is running perfect and I would be happy if it ran at 96db. I check with my local dealer K&W cycle and the company that you supply the products to Magic Racing about the jetting of the bike, and from the dealership it is jetted for our sea level. The dealerships mechanics, said that unless the bike is sputtering it will not affect the db level. I do not believe that everbody that is a CCC member has sunk money into your product and was tested did not have a bike that was running correctly. I said previously that I did not want the run around from the responses of this forum, that seems to be what I am getting. If you look in the North section of the forums you will see that people can not even get 96db from your product in Michigan. I do not mean to be negative but we as your customer sink alot of money into these machines and expect to get what we paid for. I want your product to work, like I said previously it has great potential. Maybe making an insert for the insert or the holes smaller or even plugs for the holes will work but as of right now it does not. If I could get a contact with somebody there, I will send them a copy from the DNR officer that test my bike at the rating, procedure, and certification the officer may have to do the test. May be you can contact the Cycle Conservation Club in Michigan and in conjunction with them do some testing with them, or hold a class for the training of DB testing. These are all solutions let us the consumers help you work with us. There is a problem with your product and it would benefit all of us if it worked.

Thank you for your time.

My 05 (yz450f) with a procircuit Ti-4 pipe on it idles at 98, so I have a hard time understanding how your bike with a stock pipe and an insert in it could even come close to 101. I am not saying it's impossible, just that it seems so considering my bikes sound level.

3 things could have been in play.

1: I would suspect the setting on the sound meter. Almost all come with the ability to switch between A weighting and C weighting. If it was on C, it could easily give an additional 5 db's false reading.

2: I would look for leaks in the pipe. Either in the header at the head or the mid pipe to header joint. Both can make lots of noise when they leak.

3: stock packing is crap period. It doesnt take anytime at all to have it pack up into a useless reflector instead of an absorber of sound. I would repack it with MSR's silent sport packing.

Just so you know, radio shack sells a decent sound meter for $39. Get one they are worth their weight in gold when trying to do this on your own.

I am thinking about getting a 2005 YZ450 and was wondering if there are any mods besides the stark arrester (required for woods riding) required to make the bike perform properly? I see from the WR site there are several things that need to be done before the bike performs to it full potential. The same thing held true for my 98 WR400. Is the Yz ready to go besides the spark arrestor?

I do all of my riding in Northern Miching and am looking to get something a little lighter without having to bring it home and do some wrenching.

The 05 WR has only a 2.1 gallon tank vs. the YZ with a 1.8 gallon tank there is a 24 lbs difference and no electric start on the YZ.

You are gonna need a bigger tank for sure. I bought the Clarke 2.8 and it works perfectly without being a PITA. No fit or heat related issues. You might also need to buy a skidplate. The stock stuff is meant for a MX track. I'm a thin guy, and that 24lbs makes a world of difference. Plus the YZ flat out hauls ass.

I am looking at buying a YZ450F and am wondering if there is a spark arrester insert I can purchase. I live in Michigan also, but don't do CCC rides for the simple reason the db level of my Wr400F is over the 93db requirement. Anything I have tried has just choked the bike down and reduced the performance. Therefore the stock pipe with the insert removed was the answer, but it is over the db requirement in Michigan. It seems all the DNR I run into just check for the the spark arrestor and not the db unless you do CCC rides. Even then I would pass the db rating and then head off on the trail and stop and remove the insert so the bike performed.
