1987 xr600r overheating HELP

hi every body i am new to this site and need some help i bought a 87 xr600r and 1st trail ride noticed that the right side (if on bike) exhaust heats red close to the engien i did some 1st 2nd gear riding the weather was perty cold the bike is also sometimes very hard to start can any body give me some advise

Are the carb's clean, Jetted properly :)

i just found out that i hadto rejett if i have a aftermarket exhaust so i thing that mite be the problem thanks

Sounds mega lean

hard starting plus glowing headers mean probably lack of fuel and small jets
