Will yz450 05 airbox fit the 04?

it seems yamaha redesigned the air box for 05, will it fit the o4, and if it does will any improvements be realized

It would probably fit; 95% of the plastics are the same. Any advantage is liable to be minor.

the difference is the rubber intake boot. Buy that from Yamaha and install it on your airbox. It is said to help the bike breath better.

I have an 04 my buddy has an 05. He crashed and destroyed his subframe and airbox. He had to race the next day so we pulled the subframe and airbox off my 04. Everything bolted right up no problems.

Did your friend notice any difference by putting on the 04 rubber boot?
