I'm new to dirt bikes. I've been around M/C's my whole life. Owned street bikes for a good portion of that time, mostly track/race bikes. Everytime I bought a new street bike I had to mod it out.

I finally broke down and bought a 05 Wr450F and a Honda 50 for my son so we could ride together. I promised myself and my wife I would not spend any extra money on the new bike. Did the free mods and felt very good about the bike. Went to my local Yamaha dealer today for a Oil filter. It turns out a old friend is the Parts Manager. I left with a full FMF Factory 4 system anodized blue, Quiet core insert, Scotts Stabilizer, Cr High bend bars, Upper triple clamp, Grips. I can't ever walk away from a good deal. I'm an addict when it comes to M/C's, please help me!

Have any of you used or looked at the FMF Factory 4 system? It was very pricey, retail for around $699.00, I paid allot less of course. But even with a large discount it still was bucks. I'm just guessing I will have to re-jet at this point. Will the J/D jet kit work for me with this set up? Will a fuel injection guy with limited knowledge on carbs be able to complete the re-jet?

Sorry about all the questions jammed in the post. I have got allot of great info from this site. Thanks Guys.

You may want the JD kit for the Blue needle. It helps with high flow intake/exhaust mods. You can rejet your carb if you know where the jets are in the carb. I recommend taking the carb off the bike and cleaning it whenever you rejet.

I just got my Rocky Mountain rebate check in the mail for $213.76 or 5% of last years purchases. The shocker of it all is that I spent $4,275.20 with Rocky Mountain last year. And that does not include Ironman sprockets & chains, Tera-flex tires and a full set of spare wheels with Talon hubs that they dont sell! ?

Congrats on the new bike and some quality time with your son. I wish that my dad had been into the sport when I was growing up. At least he came to a race or two and appeared to be interested.

On the goodies I promised my wife the same thing, then proceeded to buy hand guards, exhaust inserts, dual sport items, etc. Got to look good bouncing off of tree trunks. Anyway, Yamaha makes great durable motorcycles and you should have a very satisfying first-time owner’s experience. Just don’t suck that Honda 50 up your FMF on the trail and your wife stay happy ?

Red, That pic is classic. I have three boys, and I love to ride with them. They are all less than 10yrs old, so I do lots of putting around. The time that we spend together though, is what truly brings me joy. I am only 32, so I have a difficult time being the "mature" rider. The inner child in me just begs to leap out when I am on the bike, but the "dad" in me has to show them how to ride responsibly. Keep that pic in a good place. You will one day think back on that time, and love what you see.

On a different note, I have really appreciated Indy's insight and knowledge about the different aspects of these bikes. I just scrolled over to the Rock Mountain web site to see what he was talking about. I have never in my life seen that cash flash out of my wallet and into someone elses hands so quickly. Do they just have about every accessory in the world or what? The IMS superstock foot pegs just seemed like a must have. The stainless brake lines. The ARC clothing looked pretty trick as well, and the price is right. The cross country tool pack for $20 bones. The tusk tools were so cheap, who cares if they don't last. Maybe I can just have part of my check just direct deposited to them from now on.
