I just bought my next bike yesterday, Honda CRF250R. :applause: :excuseme: Yippie. I'm soo excited. My boyfriend also bought a new 450 too!!! Can't wait to see the difference from my 230F to this bike. It'll take me a week or so to learn how to kick it! :D

I can't wait to go riding this weekend, although I'll probably be in second gear for a loooonnnggg time!!

LOL! Sweeeet!! Have you ridden it yet? Do you ride just track? If you ride trails, I wonder how much you'll miss the e-start.

Hmm, I guess you'll "need" to change your username now, huh? :applause:

I just moved up to a WR250 and its so much easier to ride in the slow, tight stuff than the KX100 I was on before. What a difference! I bet you're going to love it!! :smashpc:

Congradulations!! You know what, riding around in second gear in control of your bike is WAY better than these guys who are learning and go out whiskey throttling all over the track! Some guys go nuts if a girl passes them and try to ride way over their heads....
Also, I've heard you need to check the oil ALL the time on that bike.
Someone was just asking about you on SX.com..

When I use to ride with an old girl friend, I would kick my legs out randomly to either side of the bike. Took nerves of steel and a heroic effort on her part to pass me.

Ha! That's hilarious! Where did you hear that? Why would she need to check her oil any more often than on any other bike?? Are you the oil check police?

Donna, the CRF250 is an awesome machine. The difference in oil is that this bike has two seperate oils, one for the engine and one for the transmision. Both sides use less oil than a bike that uses the same oil for both sides (such as the CRF230). When you break this bike in, you need to let it warm up for 5 -10 minutes and then let it rip. DON'T follow the manual's break in procedure. My 250R has been running like a top since day one. Don't be turned off by these Yamaha trolls.

I was trying to be helpful. My friend blew up his CRF250 and said it ran out of oil after one ride, I've heard other people say the same. All I said is that I've HEARD that information. I'm giving the girl the thumbs up for getting a new machine, why are you trying to turn it into something else?

I'm sorry your friend blew up his bike after one ride. That's obviously something due to improper maintenance or a bad setup from the factory. Hopefully he took it back to the dealer and got it fixed for free?? Not trying to start anything but there's nothing worse than buying a new machine and then having everybody say "I heard those bike chew threw sprockets", or "Oh man, I hope you keep an eye on the flux capacitor, I heard they break and cause catasrophic engine failure!". She needs to be congratulated, not warned. She's a smart person and I'm sure she'll follow the manual's recommendations and listen to those who already own a CRF.

Thanks everyone!! :D I haven't rode it yet, but I did get the chance to start it up. Got it on the 3rd kick. Not bad for an E-start gal!! I like tracks over trails, but I wouldn't mind trails once in a while too. I heard about the oil on both sides of the bike thing. I've been looking through the manual for useful info. I'll let you know if I miss my 230 after a good ride on this bike. I still have it and I am selling it too. (lets hope sooner than later)

yzforce-I haven't been on sx.com in such a long time. I pretty much come here for all my bike needs and the occassional OT laughter! :D

I have the same bike I love mine I came off a cr85 and would never go back although the physical size is a big jump and hard to get used to. I have heard the same thing about the oil I just check mine b4 each ride. Awesome on getting it to start on the 3rd kick, I usualy have to have someone start it and then shut it off after a minute and then when I get ready to go a few minutes later I can start it fine. Have fun I'm sure you will love it, they're great on the track!

I don't know if anyone else does this, but my bike has super compression and a short throw on the kick start lever. After it's warm, it's easier to start. But for that first cold start, I roll the bike over to something like a stump or car bumper or trailer fender, anything that will allow me to stand above the starter. I get a much better kick with less effort and better control over balancing the bike.

I'll bet you won't miss your 230 at all and wonder why you didn't get the 250 sooner!
My opinion "You are gonna love it" :applause:

It shouldn't be that hard, have you looked into the jetting, or even the air/fuel mixture, as it sometimes isn't set right from the factory?

It probably didn't have any oil in it to begin with. Honda ships their motors without any oil and unless the shop or you put oil in it it is bone dry. This happened to me with my 230. The shop told me that they put gas/oil in it (since I did pay $100 set up fee) and after about 30 minutes of riding, it pretty much seized. The shop gave me another bike though, so it was cool. :D
