Fact, males have been fighting with each other since the beginning of time to possess the right to choose his mate. Women have been primping to be chosen my the alpha male for just as long. This isn't good or bad or subject to critical review. It's just an old habit that some still subscribe to more than others. Hopefully we understand our history and can choose to buy into as much or as little as we desire. (This can actually be fun for all involved!)
What I don't understand is the complete lack of acceptance of the diversity of individuals in general. Some of us are born smart, some strong, some rich and some beautiful.....and we all take advantage of the strengths we possess. It it human nature to criticize those that disagree with us, but take a good look at why someone might be choosing a different path than YOU, before entering attack mode. There may be a very good reason for it for that is being overlooked.
Enjoy the diversity and hope that our children will grow up with respect, empathy and an understanding why others make valid choices for reasons that we may not see....
A little less anger and a little more understanding usually wins...

but you wrapped your male bashing under the soft lense of child protection........yup a typical female hide behind the babies tactic........ its all about the babies isn't and "save the children"....sounds like Hillary is your champion.
Ok, this is the third time I have heard you say this to someone. Caring for our children and wanting to *shelter* some stuff from them is NOT using them as a tool (as you told me I did with my kids) or us *hiding* behind our babies!!! You have some serious issues to work out, obviously! My 4 y/o has also asked me why a girl was wearing a bathing suit. All I said was "I don't know, maybe they were taking the pictures by the beach". Parents just want to bring their kids up to be respecting and respectful adults. To tell a 6 y/o, "hey sex sells, you better learn that now" is stupid!
I'm not botherd by a model wearing next to nothing, selling something she knows nothing about. They are just doing their their job. ( I modeled lingerie for years) But when you have a little kid asking you questions about the things they see in catalogs, it's a tuff spot to be in sometimes. Every person has their own opinions on how to handle it.
I think Kangaroo posted this up because it was kind of a cute and funny story. I believe she said us *girls* would appreciate it. You know, since this is the thumpette forum and all.
Mornigrider, I think I have told you this before. Think before you type. You really come off like a jerk! From reading everything that you have wrote, I can totally understand why you are 50 something and still single!

i do like the thumperrette forum because its for chicks with thumpers. i also like mxgirls.com because its for chicks (kinda young ones over there, still like it, its fun). and i am a chick, so there you go.
i posted a thread about riding with guys i don't know. i got a lot of very thoughtful responses - but was surprised that the majority of the responses were from guys. no matter. the responses were unbelievably helpful. AND RESPECTFUL. i'm really grateful for the responses i got, the advice i got, and the new riding buddies i got - both male and female!
now, this thread started out as a funny story about the explanations one sometimes has to give to small children when they make their innocent, yet cutting, observations. like the - what does the easter bunny do all year round, is that really santa at the mall, and why is that lady wearing a bikini.
even the guys saw that it was funny!! cuz it is...its part of our human existence to be fascinated by sex. and it is funny that we go to some extremes - like a chick in a bikini with alpinestar boots on, sitting on a bike. now, i wear alpinestars, but it isn't because i saw that ad, it isn't because i want to look like her, its unrelated. the guys i know that wear alpinestars don't wear them because of the ad either - we all have specific reasons why - fit, durability, what have you. all that ad did was make a few thousand people stop and LOOK at that page a little longer than if it had shown travis pastrana standing next to his bike wearing ALL his riding gear. i mean, nice and all, i'm a fan of his, but i looked at the chick longer than i would look at travis. and i'm a chick. i couldn't help it! if i looked at it, then i know every guy i know looked at it even longer....alpinestar got what it wanted. its really a very simple advertising premise. eye-time. do we all know that sex sells? yes. do we all know that there are double standards in this world? yes. do were know that there are injustices between peoples - men, women, colors, countries, etc.? yes. but explaining that to a 6 year old? nope.
it was just a funny story. and i 6 year old BOY could've asked the same question. still would've been a funny story.
oh, and whomever said their "descendants" were indentured servants...yikes. you need to report that to CPS!!
.....edited version to adhere to the Thumperrette forum rules - no double standards here!!

I just wanted to tell a funny story to some other women (being the Thumpette forum) who have kids and have to answer the never ending questions that come from them. AND then we have to stop and think of the appropriate response for that child (age and comprehesive ablity).
I don't know about the other moms in the forum, but I love my husband and so do my kids. No male bashing going on here. (If I got him mad - who would fix, clean and do the maintenance on my bike? hee hee)
With all of the things that women do in their day to day living, I thought it would be nice to smile at something funny. That's all.

I really didn't answer the question of the 6yr old. I more or less ststed facts. My daughter is now 24 yrs old. When she was 6 we lived 4 blocks from the ocean and she was at the beach everyday. She grew up seeing bikini bunnies and never asked a question like that.
I suppose I would have asked her what she thought about it and why she thinks the girl was wearing the bathing suit...and then wait for her imagination to kick in. Kids say the darndest things.

its part of our human existence to be fascinated by sex. and it is funny that we go to some extremes - Where is the love!?? Speaking of going to some "extremes"........it seems like there is some 'Big Bob'/Morningrider bashing(DJ already did address the situation I do believe) taking place here>>>>>
that morningrider chose to use this story and this forum to unleash the venom he feels toward women (and people in general, i suspect) was uncalled for, suprising, and most of it didn't even make non-sense.
Maybe he was having an "off" time of the month?? Hormonal OR chemical imbalance can occur in both genders........I used to work with a guy that could just be the nicest person and in a drop of a hat just turn on you like a rabid dog.........OOPS........maybe that situation was 'chemical imbalance'...........internal balance 'isues' can certainly mess with one's psychic!!?? Anyways.......if you go down to someone else's level of slinging insults and such......guess what!?? Your at their level then........it's not nice......no matter what gender one is!!
so, tell us, who hurt you, morningrider? and i'm very curious to know if you were a test-tube baby, as you claimed that men have been creating the world throughout history. who created you? did you spring from zeus's thigh, like a greek god? i think i read somewhere that you aren't married? i can't believe it!! with your provincial opinions, and your unmitigated ignorance, not to mention poor reading and comprehension skills, i'm shocked that you haven't been able to charm a woman to your side. Play nice, even if others don't...........it's much more attractive than vengeful retorts; IMHO!! Remember there are both male AND female here that aren't married
or maybe, you just wanted to stir the pot? get the girls all riled up? because that post of yours was so garbled and unrelated to what anybody had said for the most part - it looked just like pure bile spit up on the screen. if that was your intention, you succeeded. Don't let Morningrider/Big Bob "own" you with his "stirring of the pot"!!
i don't know that many people in my life that go out of their way to make other people dislike them, even if they'll never meet. i don't understand that.
For what it's worth........some of My 'in-color' thoughts added above!! DJ knows Morningrider and will put the clamps on if needed I'm sure!!

LMAO! This is the same thing I have been wondering for awhile. This is why I made the remark of him having serious issues....

I've had boyfriends who were wonderful respectable men and those who were lying, manipulative, cheating jerks. I know better than to cram "men" into a category as if they are all the same.
Life would be great if we could do as RH says and respect everyone for their differences, however, I think that is a bit unrealistic. Some things other people do bother me because I feel like they have a direct influence on how I am treated by others as a woman. Just because I don't like some things that others do though, doesn't always mean I don't like the person...
BTW, it was a funny story.

My DAD was the one who over time clued me in to the male's obsessiveness of sex. It certainly didn't destroy my relationship with him. It did however teach me not to get myself in certain situations that I would later regret and/or not lower myself to become simply a sperm receptacle. Because face it, there are certainly a quite a few men who do think primarily with their pee pee. I'm not bashing the entire male population, just the 16 to 26 year olds(approximately give or take a few decades
Anyway, I think MorningRider really overreacted.
The rest of the responses really covered the issues so I don't really feel the need to reiterate anything here. However, NOT EVERYONE DRESSES LIKE A HO!!!!!!!!!! Maybe ya'll think that is the case because they are the ones that attract your attention and ya'll completely DON'T see the non-ho's???
I found the story hilarious! Kids are a crack up! Thanks for sharing the story. I'm sure there was a very uncomfortable PAUSE as you all thought about your answer!!!

Hey, I'm a guy and I thought it was funny. The guys who thought it was funny either posted funny comments or just silently read it.
Don't get put off by some guys with thin skins who perceive everything as a threat to their manhood.

Well.....unfortunately.....sex *does* sell. It not only sells to men....but it sells to many, many women as well. Look at beauty magazines.....would we have so many if women didn't buy them?
To me....some sexy babe in riding gear doesn't sell it to me....I don't look like that babe.....nor will I if I buy that gear, outfit, etc.
"you dont like snap on tool calendars? "
This is very funny to me. Now....the Snap On guy....as well as the Cornwell guy come up here on Thursdays. I know this.....and I regularly pull over when their vans are stopped at the various shops in town. I buy several hundred dollars in tools from them over a year's time. (Snap-On tools are expensive....not hard to drop some serious cash on them) Just "popping" in, ya know. Sometimes, I just pop in to say "Hi!"....update them on my recent race exploits and check out what new, nifty things they might have on hand.
A few months back....it was "calander time". They were giving out free calanders. After making some comments.....I mean....those chicks holding tools they have no clue about *are* really nice looking. (I want a nekked guy version!) Though I think they could all use a good meal....a sandwich at the very least....I can appreciate the fact that these young ladies have very nice bodies. If I were a guy.....heck yeah....I'd want to look at them all day, too. If nothing else then to have some fantasy that in some other galaxy.....maybe have a "chance" with her. Yeah.....fat, greasy guy.....and some hot chick is gonna go for him? Yeah, right.....but a man's gotta dream, right? Same reason many of us own bikes. We enjoy them....but come on....somewhere deep down inside.....we all want to be *able* to do triples with ease, knack-knacks and all that. Nope, most of us can't.....but we can *dream* about it, none the less.
Same goes for that hot chick holding a power tool in the Snap On calander.....the guys want to at least dream....however remotely....that they can have *that* chick....even for a fleeting moment.
Obviously it sells tools or they wouldn't spend the time and energy to do it.
As far as Morning Rider....yup....I think someone hurt him deeply somewhere along the way. It's ok.....many of us have been hurt along the way, too.
Ok....kiss, kiss.....can we all make nice, now? Until they make the g-string clad guy calander from Snap On.....I will deal with the fact that there will be half nekked women on their calanders. It sells.....me in a bikini does not.
I also know that hot chick would not put up with farting in bed.....that pot belly and many other things mine and everyone else's old men do......neither would the Chippendale's model deal with my well earned stretch marks, my "character lines", and my ever increasing gray hairs....
So.....it's a two way street.
Can we all just have a group hug and relax now? It was simply meant as a funny story....not a political battle grounds.
peace,
janette
