I went to the track today, bike was working fine.
After I washed the metric tonne of mud off of it, I started it up. I noticed that the throttle just stuck where ever i put it. It also feels a bit tight. Any thoughts guys. I know this is the lazy to fix something, but I am kinda new at the BIke mechanic thing and I know you guys (collectivly) know plenty.
Only thing I have changed near the throttle is I put on a Dr.D hot-start yesterday.
Thanks.
S.

Scary,
Check the pully wheel on the carb. Just unscrew the black cover on the right side of the carb. You will see the pully wheel and the throttle cables. Turn the throttle back and forth to make sure the cable is tracking true on the wheel. look for any frays on the cable. There seemed to be a problem with some "01" 426/250F's pully wheels being misaligned and fraying cables.

Make sure that the throttle tube is not pushed all the way up against the end of the handlebar. It should have a little bit of play from side to side. About 1-2mm.

Alot of times what happens is you drop the bike on the non-throttle side. It tears the grip and puts dirt in the handlebar. Then the dirt collects in the bar by the T clamp. Guess what happens next time you lay the bike on the throttle side? All that dirt goes right on the throttle.

Some people put coins in the grips to cut down on this. I would plug the non-throttle bar end with silicone instead. But even better is to use bar ends. The ultimate is bar ends and a AL throttle tube.

A stuck throttle can get you killed. Fix it ASAP.

My bike looks brand new. No dirt in the bars, no rips in the grips. I did drop it on the right side ( it fell (again :) )) could this push the tube causing it to rub? I am going down after I eat. I will let you all know what I find later.

I got it fixed. I pulled off the throttle wheel cover. I sprayed the wheel with some WD40. I hope that was not a bad idea. Thanks for the help. :)

I've always wondered whether you could or should use your cable lube stuff instead of WD40 on those kind of things?

It was not a cable problem. I sprayed behind the wheel. I just worry that dust might accumulate even more with the WD40.

A great trick is to spray your whole engine down with WD40 after you wash it. Next time you ride it will collect much less dust mud dirt etc...

To answer your question - no it shouldn't cause more dirt to stick under there. You might need to do it regularly due to WD40s tendency to evaporate though.
