Anyone have any luck insuring their bike? Seems like as soon as the ins co. hears "racing" bike, they can't do it. Even tried Progressive's online quote. If use is "Used for Racing/Speed contest" ie. "If vehicle is at anytime used for racing/speed contests" they couldn't offer a rate. I'm just looking for fire/theft. Any help appreciated.

That's an easy one. "I don't race my bike or engage in speed contests. I do ride it off road really fast sometimes but I would never break the law".

Admit nothing, deny everything and demand proof!!!

Never admit, It is like telling the insurance about an accident that wasnt your fault. Let them find out for themselves. The unfortunate part is they now have your information on file and if you go back they will give you insurance. If your bikes get stolen they will say you requested insurance for racing prior to getting your new policy and probably not pay. Maybe they will, but progressive is the one I was looking at and for what they were going to chage it looks like a good deal. I just might try induring my bikes because I always leave one in the back of my truck while I ride the other. I also assume that my Moms insurance policy on the house will cover my bikes in the event someone steals them out of out garage. I need to check though...

Better check with your insurance co. in your state. Since motorcycles are a titled vehicule in Oregon they must be insured with its own policy. They "ARE NOT" overed under home owners and they're not covered under your auto policy if in the back of your truck.

I have mine through progressive. I told them all I want is for it to be covered against theft, fire or falling out of the truck (comprehensive). You can't buy just comp so had to get minimum liability first. around $100/yr total.

Don't say anything about racing. Just have them treat it like any other MC. As if racing has antything to do with greater chances of theft or fire anyway.

You must have a specific policy for your bike. I don't know of any homeowner's,renters or other vehicle policy that will cover your bike.

Don't take a chance. $100 is chump change, insure your bikes(s).

Here in Indiana, I need a separate policy for my motorcycle. My car insurance would not cover it and my home owner's will NOT cover it. I tried Dairyland Insurance and they cancelled the policy after 2 weeks. It was an "unacceptable vehicle". I guess that means "racing" to them. Keep looking.... right now, I'm self-insured. If it's stolen or burned , I'm S.O.L

Yeah, and it's not like we're trying to fraud them. Would we really turn in a claim for a set of bent bars & plastic from a race or an injury when all we want is a $5500 policy against theft. We actually are probably a good risk for them as far as theft goes.

"Racing" is just a big red flag and if they here that they don't care what else you have to say, they don't want to touch you even if it's just for comp insurance. We're just a bunch of evil lunatics that will surely result in a huge multi million dolar claim against them.......

www.Progressive.com

I did mine online and I don't remember anything asking me about racing. $75 for full coverage, $500 comp deductible, $500,000 liability.

Just got insurance for my 250f from progressive insurance. cost me 105 for a year. 100 deductible. If you beleive it the guy asked if I wanted collision coverage for 60 more a year with the 100 deductible. I wonder. I crash a lot and just replaced a radiator.

At least I am covered for theft and fire.

I love crashing!
