DONT BUY IT FROM WESTERN POWERSPORTS in Lanley!!! I bought mine there last year and had a big go-around with them. I think cause they thought i was young they could charge me for useless stuff....I DONT THINK SO. IN fact, search for smaller dealerships a little more north than Vancouver. Their prices are about 500-700$ more than dealers in northern BC. We hav a GST and PST tax whick is 14%, If you buy in alberta, you dont pay Gst so you save 7%.

Jimmy your best bet is to go to Yamahas web page and E-Mail the Dealers up North to see who has the best price. You may save more money by getting it shipped instead of running up to pick it up yourself.

Hey, Check with the guys at Valley Yamaha in Chilliwack, they are really strait up guys and I know they have a brand new 2001 WR250F that they are clearing out. And if they can't help you give me an e-mail and I'll give the e-mail addess of another small dealer who seems to be able to get anything and who will deliver your bike to the border so you don't have to pay Canadian taxes. I go to him for my GASGAS stuff and he's always been good to me.

Go to Canada young man!....I bought my 02 YZ250F there..in Ontario....with a exchange rate of currrency at 1.53 ...the bike was 6950.00 Canadian.in a crate..was like 45sumfin.00...I used a credit card..did not have to carry money....the dealer charged a 2% charge for that....My out the door price.on my credit card bill was 4629.00.....no tax...no tarriffs....on anything under 750cc.....unless you need to licence it here.then you will have to pay tax on the amount here....customs was no prob..a few questions...coming back to USA that is...a passport is recommended...at least birth certificate and drivers licence....Our border is tuffer coming back in since the Sept things...I saved alot of bucks...my buds have all bought up there in the last two years,...no probs...

Try Blackfoot Motorsports in Calgary, its about an 8 hour drive from Spokane and they have tons of stock and you save the 7% provincial sales tax that BC has. I just picked up an 01 WR250f for $6792 with taxes and everything and if I was spending Yankee dollars it would work out to be $4279, now thats a good deal on a new bike. I'm not sure about crossing the border though I can't help ya there. Good Luck

I thought (correct me if I'm wrong here) that you will get the GST back when you cross the border.
You may also get the 7% sales tax back. I can't remember, it's been 14 years since I left the great white North (was born there and grew up on
Vancouver Island and area). I was thinking of doing this but the dealers there were going to charge me too much, like $7450.00 for a WR250 (this was the Island). So, it didn't make sense to get from there. I ended up ordering a brand new
YZ250F from Hollink Motorsports in Rochester. I paid $5000 USD and the shipping was $160 through
ForwardAir.

I have a small dirtbike shop in Whiterock BC, I can get 02 wr 250's cheaper than any dealership and going across the border is not a problem. I just sold out of 01 's they went for $6200.00 . Most dealerships will jack the price if they are going south. Please don't use my prices to barter down another dealer we put most the profit into clubs , racing and defending riding areas.. Thanks

Hey 5th gear, what are you quoting on the 2002 YZ250F and 2002 WR250F? You say you can get 02's wr's cheaper than anybody. Just WR's? And if so, why only WR's?

Also, what would shipping costs be to Gurnee, IL (Northern suburb of Chicago)?

Thanks

One thing to mention here...if you plan to race any big events, and you're interested in the Yamaha contingency program, the fine print says the bike must be an american model, purchased in america.

Just some food for thought...
