Grip glue substitute?

I know there are many ways to get new grips into their proper place and keep them there, but wanted to know if there are any that seem to be more effective than paying 10 bucks for a small tube of grip glue.

Anyone? I used red rtv the other night and it worked ok. It was still not dry on one side after 24hrs, so i pulled it off and sprayed some cleaner on it and re-installed it. Safety wire and all is good. I would like to find something cheap like that only that would dry faster.

Any ideas?

I like using contact cleaner to get them on then use wire to hold it there. Thats the best way IMO.

I tried spray paint for the 1st time works better then any grip glue I used I also safety wire them to Rick

I've had sucess using hairspray or soaking the inside of the grip in alcohol. Always use safety wire no matter you use.

I get contact glue for .99 cents at Big Lots. Looks and smells just like Renthal's glue. Safety wire and yer all set.

Thanks for the input. That is exactly what I needed. I like the spray paint idea. I know I have 3 lifetime supplies of that somewhere in the garage.

$10 for grip glue? I just paid $5 at my local dealer. You got ripped off!!

1. put electrical tape around the bar where the grip goes

2. spray some wd40 on the tape, and a little in the grip

3. slide the grip on, then let it sit overnight.

viola! it dries and the grip wont move anywhere.

monkey snot/yellow colored weatherstrip. smear some arounf the end of the grip and it will keep the H2O out. Spraying things on it doesn't seem to work as good, in my experience.

Hair spray!! I use it on mine and they never want to come off. Sure beats a $12 for a dinky tube of Renthal "Grip Glue" which sucks.

Liquid nail works perfectly, and it comes in a huge tube for a couple of bucks.

Super glue gel in the grip opening, wd40 on the bar, slam it home and wire. Drys in five minutes.

I came up with this a few years back after much trial and error. Then I see the Pro Circuit guys doing the same thing in one of the magazines. They ripped me off. ?

What is this safety wire you all are talking about, ive never heard of it.
