ARe there any XR650R's better models between 1998-2003

I am not up on the upgrades but am looking at this time for all info on my next bike to buy. I do know it will be a XR650R.

2000 to 2005 are the years that the 650R has been made. They are basically the same except for a few minor changes to the counter shaft seal and the clutch bushing. Oh and of course BNG each year.

My understanding is that they made the changes for 2002 and newer, but it is easy to do the changes prior to any damage on an older bike.
