'05 Tank Question

I've done the search thing and I seem to be getting conflicting information, or maybe it's just my last good brain cell struggling as usual.

True or false: The only larger tanks that will work on the '05 are the Clarke or IMS 2.8 gallon, even if you remove the AIS? Also, the Clarke tank does not require a shroud or seat change as well, correct?

I'm sure it's been covered, but with all the different years and the subtle changes to each bike, us newbies get confused ? . Take pity, be kind, muchas gracias...SC

I have 05 wr 450,acerbis 3.4 tank it does not need the YZ radiator shrouds the stock will work.

Thumper talk store can get you what you need ?

We sold an 03-04 Acerbis tank to someone and they said it fit. We confirmed fitment w/ Acerbis before shipping. Stock rad shrouds worked to. ?

I have the blue GYTR tank and you can see the fuel in it if the sun is out. If it is dark out you have to open the cap. ?

I just put an IMS 3.1 gal. tank on from ziptyracing.com and it fit great. I did remove the smog device prior. I'm not sure if it would have fit if I had not removed it. Call zipty and talk to Mitch. Good luck!

I have an '05 WR450 with YZ450 Flatland Radiator Guards and IMS 3.1 Gal tank. Everything fits great with no mods needed.

The stock tank on my '05 WR450 feels lighter than the IMS 3.1 and it is. If you don't need the additional 1 gal of fuel, stay with the stock 2.1 tank.
