I am sure Elliott will correct me if I am mistaken, but I believe their 67hp claim is with a 505cc conversion kit. Tdub

o3 yz 450.. I do most of our own motor work, but for the tricky stuff our main sponsor Sports West Yamaha Las Vegas has a Mech. that is very sharp. He builds some of the fastest legend car motors on the west coast. (i believe there yamaha 1100 or 1200) anyway a motor is a motor! The shop has it's own Dyno..We have dyno results from 61hp to 65hp depending on the air temp-air density-fuel- ect. ect. Here's a list of thing's we tried step by step. (with a lot of Dyno time) We try'ed a 13.5 to 1 piston slight power increase coming out of the turns, blew the the motor up in less than 50 miles! Reason UNSURE. Went back to stock yamaha piston. 1. Port and Polish everthing 2. Balance, crank-rod-piston 3. trick valve seating 4. Hot cams 5.high flow water pump(heat rob's horsepower) 6.Going from 100 octane to VP H-4 (2hp) 7. 6 (each side) 1 in. holes in air box 8. K-N air filter 9.cheap non- o ring chain (less drag)replace often! 10. Jetting on Dyno after every mod. is a must 11. No rev limiter. Am sure there is a few small thing's I've forgot! But these results, were the labor of love over the 2004 so. cal. race season. My rider is only 155lb's But i have seen "NOTHING YET" pull him, coming out of the turns and down the straights. That includes 525-650 and even the factory boy's on there (450) YA! right.. These MOD'S aren't that expensive but are very time consuming! Once the above was done little or no wrenching was required all season.. We average 150 miles to 200 miles per race weekend twice a month.. (sat.practice-heats-mains) If you run HOT CAM'S the minute it takes more than 1 to 3 kicks to start your bike "YOU NEED A VALVE ADJUSTMENT" I don't have it ALL figured out yet, thats for sure, and hoping to pick up any tip's i can from you guys out there in MOTO land. The results of our Trial & Error program in 2004, did yielded 25 top 3 place, finishes and a STTARS SUPERMOTO SO.-CAL, Intermediate series championship #1 and a #3 in Sportsman.. Like I said it's been trail and error(heavy on the error)still don't know crap, but willing to learn..   See ya at the races

Anything over 50 is insane unless its very smooth power. The new 05 CRF450 is right around 50 stock and that bike is no fun to ride at all. Way too much to quickly for me. I couldnt imagine something over 50.

What? The 05 CRF 450 can't be much more powerfull than your 03 YZ 450F if at all. Are you scared of your YZ 450 as well? A guy I ride with says that my 04 YZ 450 is a little stronger than his 04 CRF 450.
