Whenever I started my bike up today to go riding, a HUGE amount of oil started dripping out of one of the overflow tubes. It would not stop coming out. I would rev the bike and it would kind of stop but drip and as soon as i stopped revving it would just pour out like crazy. Any ideas of what could have happened? We sat there for awhile to make sure it wasn't just too much oil, but it just kept pouring out. I have an 04 RMZ250.

 :D

If it were me, I would start at ground zero. Drain all the oil out, and replace with a measured amount of fresh oil. Then start it and see if the problem still exists.

If you think about it there are a few reasons for the oil leak from the overflow hose. If the oil is not over filled it has to be gettig pushed out the over flow under presure. The first two reasons could be a blocked oil passage or more likely a broken ring allowing some of the combustion presure to pass into the crankcase. I sure hope you over filled it.

You might want to down load the service manual. The link was on this forum a short while ago. I bought the factory manual, from my local dealer, about $40. well worth it. Something about turning pages on my bench seems better than a pc.

Did you remove both drain plugs when you drained the oil the last time? A friend didn't and putting in the amount of oil called for seriously overfilled the case. Funny thing is it doesn't look like you get that much out the small plug. Maybe if it isn't removed it traps some that normally drains out thru the bigger plug. Just a thought.

Other than is the oil filter put in correctly? If not it could cause high oil pressure?
