Has anyone tried the 3.3 Clarke tank and the SDG/YZ seat on your WR? Hows the fit? Can you still reach the hot start? Is the handling improved? I'm placing an order this week and would like any INFO you might have. Thanks

I use the SDG seat w/ a stock YZ tank on my WR. The seat fits fine, but the gripper cover on the seat chafes my a** on long rides. :)

The yz tank is a huge difference over the wr seat.

Where can you buy a yz seat? I can find a tank but don't know where to go for my seat.

The Clarke tank is great you don't need to turn the petcock backwards. Like I have read that you need to do with other tanks. I saved the clark tank off of my 99 WR400 and it fits good on my WR250. The kick starter lever just barely fits in the detent but makes it. The choke is a little bit of a reach but it is only used once a ride and the hot start is harder to reach it just take some getting use to. The top of the tank rubs the oil fill tube but not to bad I just keep a piece of race tape between them.
Also you need to buy another complete petcock for the right side of the tank IF you want to use the last 1/2 gallon of gas on that side. I have not gotten that far (80+ mile ride) and you could just tip the bike over to transfer the fuel from the right to the left. You could also make a transfer tube out of hardware or snowmobile parts...

Oh, ya handling is improved because the seating position is moved forward (just set the yz seat next to the wr's to see the difference) and the gas is carried lower.

The Clarke tank also rubs on the compression clicker of the shock. I put foam in between. When they first made the tank for the original 400F Yamaha didn't have the hi/lo speed clicker so it didn't hit.

As crabby as Clarke is I'm sure that they won't change their mold to miss the clicker.

Also, I just used the OEM yamaha o-ring on the petcock instead of the one they give you.

I got the tank/seat combo from Clarke and installed last night. Switched all the goods from the stock tank to the new one. They send an O-ring for the petcock to replace the stock one but I did not install as it seamed to not fit just right. Tank fit real good on bike, I was surprized. It did not hit the oil stem or rub anything that I could see. After I got the tank on, hooked up the fuel line and put on the seat, I took off the fuel cap and looked in the tank, DARN IT!!!!!! There was enough plastic shavings in the tank to fill a pen cap!!! It was past my average time I go to bed and I hadn't spent anytime with my wife so I went in the house thinking I'M SUCH AN IDIOT! So I guess tonight I should take it back off and clean her out.
The SDG seat looked like it was made well and was alot slimmer than the stock seat. Sat on the bike and felt I could ride alot futher up the tank, my but better get ready for that gripper seat, that will be another story I'm sure.

what are you using for fuelline i got the IMS seat tank combo, nice seating position and fits great but the fuelline is exposed to a lot of heat and some of the GNCC guys have experienced some melting even with good routing of line, local speed shop has stainless braided line good to 350 degrees, does anybody know where to get something better possibly stainless/teflon or such spaceage stuff that won't leave you worried about melting line, seems like a high tech line is now needed from aftermarket.
