I got sick of looking at the paint rubbed off on my frame rails. Instead of traditional frame guards I took my WR to a spray-in bedliner shop and had the frame rails coated with black smooth finish (can color match also). Over 1000 miles and look like new and clean up appearance of WR. The shop charged $40.00.

Hey great idea but a little pricy, don't you think? I buy 16 mil clear # plate material from ONE Ind. and cut it to fit the frame rails. 200 mi. and so far the stuff is staying on perfect. Just use a heat gun to form it to the tubes. My boots(alpine star m6's)scratched them some but deinitely no wear thru! And if it does you still have PLENTY to make more. 3 sheets were $19 I believe, and I'm sure you could find it cheaper most places.

I did that but used ruberized under coating for truck or car frames for only about $5.00
works great

How about us guys that don't want to spray or heat it up with a gun... Where can I get some strap on / bolt on stuff that will do the trick. Also, I want to get a skid plate and other meaningful armour. What should I do, Scotts, Works, others. What are some of the essentail bike armour items everybody should have...

For inexspensive plastic frame guards and front rotor/brake guard - http://www.yamahausa...cess_frame.html
Moose makes a good full coverage plate, there's also a GYT-R full coverage plate in the site above.
Don't forget rad guards - try www.Devolracing.com

I have seen these stick on rubber frame guards that have little rubber nubs on them to help your boots grip the bike better, anybody know who sells them ?

Stomp Designs makes airbox, and frame protectors. Nice stuff, but does eventually peal away. Leave a really fun goop to get off. I liked the ones I put on my WR for the most part, but they really rubbed my inner knee when doing stand up wheelies.
