I have a stock xr650r, uncorked but no electrical mods yet....can I power marker lights if I tap into the rear brake light or front head light? I know it's ac but will it work?

Ac? If You Mean Alternating Current. It Is Not. Just Regular Old 12v. Should'nt Have A Problem With Powering Some Small Lights, Especially The New Led Ones

If your XR650R was built for the USA it only has a regulator not a regulator/rectifier so it is still putting out AC. As I understand it you can run lights with AC power however the alternator may not put out a constant voltage and this may be seen in your lights at low rpm's, it is much easier to control your lighting with DC. There are many good web pages out on this subject.
