What kind of promotions does Yamaha usually have between January and June? It says on their website that their current 0,0,0 offer ends December 31...I want to buy, but am not quite ready yet financially...but don't want to have to wait 'till next June either...

And how about a 5-speed too While we're at it! ? As long as it's got that 4sp I will just keep looking past it. Not everybody rides all day on a mx track and I don't know about all of you, but I'm not particularly interested in a 280lb dirt bike (05 WR450). ?

I'll be in line soon as they release the Al frame for the 450. Depends on if I sell out to the 2smokes. ? But I love the 4 speed. I would put a large bet with anyone that Yamaha wont goto a 5 speed on the YZ450. Also, the EPA will never be able to "outlaw" 2-strokes. Think larger scale. There are alot of other applications other than MX/bikes that use 2 strokes. That would cause tons of industries (ie:construction, manufacturing...) to invest millions of $$$ of capital to replace current equipment with probably no government aid or relief. Also, the amount of emissions that 2-smoke put out is tons less than that of diesel engines. Just my 2 cents.

Your foolin yourself about the tranny dude. I race and trail ride and have no problems whatsoever. I put a 15 tooth on the front if going riding in wider open spaces. I don't know where the heck these guys are riding where first is to tall for them either. If your going that slow you shouldn't be on a motorcycle anyway!

Actually the frame Yamaha is using is pretty damn good. Why mess with something that works so well? The aluminum is cool but not needed. I had a CRF and did not like the way the frame felt. It was noisy, as well as wore holes anywhere there was high friction like where the tank met the frame.

The 4 speed is a bit different but will work for tight nasty trails. I am coming off a KTM 525 EXC with the six speed so I definitely have something to compare it too.

The frame is ok (it is dated as hell comparatively speaking)- it can be better by lowering the center of gravity and therefore making the beast turn and handle better - this is where 05 Honda blows away the 05 Yamaha (ok flame me)- I pray for a new aluminum frame - and keep the 4 speed and I will buy it in 06 - ???

No they are not putting alum frame on the yamaha 450. Seems that after testing it does not hold up to the raw untame power she has. Noted Eng, have stated that the alum frame is for girls and mini's or Hondas. They are looking at placing the yamaha motor with the four speed on semi conductors to reduce down time on servo systems with digtal backup. You can go to www.alum,bla,bla,bla.com and see,lol
