you guys would aruge about this forever. they are both sweet bikes. They are totally dif when hoping on one to the other. no bike is perfect. they all have there downside. go ride both. you decide. what color do you like?

Hondas are for squids,LOL The YZF is the King and the CRF is a unworthy imatation. Lets see first MC left honda over the AL frame bike, then RC now no factory guys want tobe on it. As all the honda hype dies away all there left with is a bland red bike.LOL

All I can say is my dad's -05 CRF450F beats my -03 YZ450F hands down. The thing is just so frickin' smooth, both the engine and the suspension.

I'm already regretting I did a complete top end on my YZF instead of trading it in for the Honda. I will definitely have to ride the '06 YZF before I buy one and not a CRF.

Yea right, sure if you get 200 honda guys togther its going to be unanimous for that modle. Im not saying the honda isnt a good bike its just the hype factor that is over the top. Go back to the honda side and quit trolling with

this BS. YZF-1998 till now still top, sure the honda guys and honda cant stand this but the big hype machine is in high gear and some fall for it and some live here in reality.

That was halarious All the riders in one test rode hondas as there personal bike, hmmmm... i wonder which bike they are gonna pick. In another test they try to match the crf250 and 450 against a yz125 --of course the only place the YZ is going lose out is the power...duh

What was also funny is after 20 hours they had to rebuild a set of forks, reshim both exhaust and intake valves, completely replace clutch and basket(twice in 30 hours), and a set of brake pads in the hondas. I guess it's good to be a magazine owner or factory rider so you have the cash to do that regularly.

My YZ450 has about 60 hours and is still in specs and only had to change the oil and clean the air filter regulary, hmmmm.... I think I will stay with Yamaha.

I'll wait for the next shoot out too... then I'll have more reason to laugh at the suckers who fall for the honda hype. You know, the ones who pay more for their bike and then have to spend incredible amounts of time and money replacing, rebuilding and reshimming trying to get the reliabilty of a Yamaha.

The CRF450R makes less horsepower than the YZ450F.

The CRF450R has valve problems, unlike the YZ450F.

The CRF450R has been proven to handle way sloppier than the YZ450F.

The CRF450R holds less oil and burns it alot quicker than the YZ450F.

This is the biggest load of crap I have seen on here in a long time.

I have a YZ426, I've ridden plenty of YZ450s, and I have a CRF450.

Handles "way sloppier"? Are you kidding me? The CRF is a great handling bike. In comparison to a YZF it is much more nimble and can easily change lines on entrance to a corner. The YZF on the other hand requires more muscle and thought.

Can you go fast on both bikes? Yes. It is just funner (for me) to go fast on the CRF.

My CRF has not had valve problems. Even if it did, fixing it is worth the effort and $$.

Holding "less oil" and "burning it quicker?" &%$#@!? I change mine every few rides (2-4 depending on how much I rode) and have NEVER seen any depletion of the amounts in either the clutch or engine side. Do you have a CRF 450? It really doesn't sound like it.

I think any bike these days is going to be a good one - red, blue, orange, yellow. Just set up the suspension and twist the throttle!!!!

Did you ever think maybe the reason they are riding Honda in the first place is because they like it better? And these guys are mostly Racers, pushing these bikes to the limit.

There are plenty of people who ride Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and KTM in the pro classes. If you pick only honda riders to do the testing, it sounds like a biased a test to me.

Like you said these guys that ride in the test are mostly racers pushing the bike to the limits, you probably are not. And besides you posted the results of the test yourself, did you read the whole article.

I like the way hondas ride, I just don't like their reliability factor.

btw, I like my 03 YZ over my 05 CRF. Also I'm a slow vet intermediate racer that LOVES the 4 speed, which I race in one gear 95%, so I just might be racing a zuki in 06................

dont have a red bike....never have. I have ridden them and they are nice. It is just that most of them seem to zero out the valves at about 50 hrs...(at least if they are raced). That to me is unacceptable. But it's like anything else...if you know that going in then so be it.

That is why the 06 YZF is so tempting....better handling (at least from what we can tell) and relability second to none.

i have no idea what some of yall are talking about, my 99 yz400f handles like a dream, floats into corners and just plane handles great. The YZ is hands down the better bike. Hell hondas so far off the mark that it took them 5 years to come up with the POS they have now and cant pay a pro rider enough money to stay on it.LOL Sorry guys but troll somewhere else.
