Building a mx track.

hey iam building a mx track out in a sand pit close to my house. are there any pro's and cons to building one in a sand pit ? i already have some decent berms and whoops. i want to build a couple big jumps. any ideas ?there are some hills that are on the track and its pretty fun blasting up them. My friend up my road races mx so iam thinking about showing him the track and seeing if he wants to help me out with it. ill get pics as soon as i can. :thumbsup:

Contact some excavators in your area and see if they will drop off excess clay when they run into it. Jumps built out of sand will not hold at all, you need to put about a foot of clay on the faces of all the jumps or they will be a maintenance nightmare.

Ring up local pool companies. They normally try and give it away. Or put an add in the paper for clay or clean fill. For free obviously:p

i have a farm tractor.. bulldozer and excavator (sp) that i can use.

I built a 4 - 4.5 acre track including woods, about a year ago. My best tool was a skidsteer to build it. Upkeep is best made with a good box-blade. The clay is a good idea on the jumps.
