I'm picking up my 05' in a few days and one of my concerns is te AIS. Here's what I know(or at least think I know):

1)The AIS was only supposed to be on California models. Bikes in other states
were not supposed to have the AIS.

2) I live in Washington state and was at a dealer recently eyeballing the 05'.
On the right side of the cylinder head, I noticed a sizable tube which, after
looking at photos on thumpertalk, I now recognize as the AIS.

Was this bike a california model misplaced in Washington state by accident? Or is the AIS, in fact, on all the 05' WR450's?

Check the VIN. If the eighth digit is a C or a 9 (I think), then it is not a CA Green Sticker bike. There's no way it qualifies as green if it doesn't have the AIS (and if it does have the C or 9? in the eighth place in the VIN). To verify the bit about the VIN, check the CA DMV web site. Search for Green Sticker and/or OHV.

Bottom line, if it doesn't have the red sticker digit in the VIN, then it's CA Green and has the AIS.

C or a 3 in eight digit is red.
