I'm pretty new to this whole thing ("thing" being defined as this online community and dual-sporting), and it's safe to say that I am now an addict. Can someone bring me up to speed on the verbage, acronyms, and general lingo to further feed (and interpret) my addiction?

I keep running accross terms like JETTING/JETTED, UNCORKED, BRP, SUPERMOTARD, SNORKEL, etc.

Any other prerequisite knowlegde that I need to be armed with? Interpreting this forum is as tough as getting through engineering school. I'm not quite sure what everyone is talking about, but sure am having fun with the confusion!

Just hang out and have a good time, the lingo will come, and I still say you should get a DRZ....... Good to have you with us.

Jetting: refers to the needle in the carb, which handles the amount of fuel that gets dumped into the carb. If there are changes made to the air intake or the exhaust output many time the jetting needs to be modified, to maintain the correct air to fuel reatio.
Uncorked: removing the restrictors from a bike. Like removing the exhaust baffles, opening the air input. cutting off the throttle block, etc. This takes full potential of the bikes power, but alos can tend to make them very loud.
BRP: Ususally refers to the Honda XR650 (Big Red Pig)
Supermotard: slang for SuperMoto, combines supmoto with Retard. It's a type of racing where guys take dirtbikes, rig them with street rims and tires and race them on a tar track. It's a lot like racing dirt ovals, but it's on tar.
Snorkel: This is usually under the seat. It is teh air intake into the airbox. It's literally a little snorkel and tries to make it difficult for water to get into the airbox & eventually the carb. Unforutanately they can tend to restrict the amount of air intake.

I'm sure someone can probably correct me on some of these, but this gets you in the ball park.
