Why won't one of the big companies step up and turn one of their dirt worthy enduro's into a DS bike? There really isn't much to choose from for those up us who want a street legal dirt bike.
Look at Honda, a company that trys to portray the image of being on the cutting edge and their ds bike is ancient, while they have prime canidates in their lineup. Come on, we need to see a XR650R or CRF450 in a ds model. Not all of us live in states that can title converted bikes.
I'd personally like to see something along the line of a KTM 525, a CRF 450, or a Yamaha WR450.
Come on guys... step it up!

In Norway the WR/F and CRF/X can be made road legal easily (tall third gear, muffled pipe). Then uncork the beast and have fun

In the UK you can road register a brand new 250 two stroke MX bike, just add horn, bicycle speedo and brakelights.

I can just see al the claims against the manufacturers when retards buy CRFs, YZFs, etc and ride them on the road, with none of the maintenance they REQUIRE just to keep working. KABOOM. There are enough nglected race bikes out there, imagine if people started buying them to use as daily commuters...

They are both DS from the factory - we get the shaft in the US for dual sports

The "trails" going into the equestrian trails are marked "Horses and licensed vehicles only" . The 520 IS licensed............hmmmmmm.

I don't think you can put the blame on the manufacturers, the blame goes totally on state government. The manufacturers already jump through enough hoops to meet carb standards, i'm surprised that they go to the lenghths they do to sell bikes in Cali.

rokklym, from your sig, it appears you live in Colorful Colorado. If this is correct, it's super easy to dual sport any bike you want. I'll have a plate on my 04' KTM 300 EXC very soon and it's a 2-stroke.

If you need instructions, let me know.

Nope, not yet anyways. I live in Wisconsin which is a pain to get a converted bike registered. I'm still trying to find out if they really will title one thats already been titled in a different state. I think it would be easier to just move though.
