When searching the web for helmet's, I find plenty of street helmets and plenty of dirt bike helmet's. I wear glasses and like the idea of a sheild that I can simply flip down over my glasses, like a street helmet has. But prefer the look of the dirtbike helmet. Not quite sure how to get goggles comfortably over my eye glasses? Maybe this is a silly question but, is there such thing as a dual sport helmet? If so, could anyone recommend one or an online source to purchase one? How to other glasses wearing dual sporters get around this?

Simpson has exactily what you are looking for. It's dirtbike helmet that has a street visor.

Yeah, it looks pretty nice and you won't have to get a second job to afford it.
Adding the visor adds a bit of $$ but its still relatively inexpensive.

The Simpson is nice, but if you want the best buy Aria. I know they are probably way over-priced, but they look really good and are super light.

You will want to check out the XD Series

I have the Simpson helmet and recommend it to anyone who wears glasses and doesn't like to or can't wear goggles. It is comfortable, vents well (cool when you need it, and can be closed when not), and dust is seldom an issue. Use a bit of Endust on the faceshield and it is nearly non existant. They will send you some tear offs, use them and order extras when you order the helmet. They are a small price to pay for a scratch on the visor.

Another word from experience, keep the visor and your glasses clean, smudges on either are annoying. But the same is true under goggles.

I think HJC makes one two.

I have a street bike helmet for the street bike and dirt bike helmet for the dirt bikes. I tend to wear shooting glasses with the dirt bike helmet when dual-sporting.

I found one that is great...made by Airoh. I have been very impressed with the quality, lack of helmet lift at highway speed...the visor seals up tight so there is minimal noise. They are about half the price of the Arai XD...

I have had the Simpson GS3 with face sheild for over a year now and it's OK.
I have had issues with the padding coming loose(not glued very well).
If I had to do it again I would go with the Aria XD but get it on e bay for alot less.Airoh
The Airoh is nice too but I have never seen one in person.

I also have the Simpson. It works, I have the clear face shield and the tinted one. I really like being able to wear my glasses and the tinted face shield in the summer.

As northcrf said, it's ok but if you can afford to get the Aria XD, do it. The Simpson just isn't holding up well. The rubber guard between the chin guard and the shield came off. Bad glue and not aligned well. Also since I swap between face shields quite a bit the cheap screws that hold it on are falling apart.

I've got the simpson as well. I really like the helmet, but its got issues as others have mentioned. my first one litterally fell to pieces in a week. the replacement helmet is holding up great. As i said, i really like it, but its not real great for road riding. others have said they thought it was heavy, but i dont mind the wieght, what bugs me is the wind noise at highway speeds. also, dealing with the idiots at simpson if you ever need parts is a ROYAL PAIN. expect to get screwed on replacement parts AND shipping for them if you ever need them.

I've got the Arai XD and love it. It's almost two years old and holding up well. I keep braking off the little vent cover on top because I ride in brush and trees and don't duck low enough, thats the only parts I've replaced. I also wear glasses so its nice to use the sheild instead of hot foggy goggles. Riding at high speed on the highway tends to pull your head around because of visor, but thats the case on all offroad type helmets.

Yup, I bought one a few months ago, light, all the bits work well and very good quality. Good report here: http://www.webbikewo.../airoh-helmets/

Not available in the US and don't comply with your local standards. Personally I wouldn't care less, it's a great product and it meets European standards which are no less stringent. It's gettable from several web-based sites, one here: http://www.dirtbikex...c_id=1&p_id=303

Just buy the oakly L frames, they are built specifically for glasses!!! Then you can wear any helmet you like!!!
