Alright, this obviously is getting no were. I noticed one remark saying that they even have automatic transmisions....guess what, not all of them do. O, and guess what, i also have a big King quad 700 4x4 with 27" itp c series rims and itp 589 m/s tires on it. But beside the fact, i still respect dirt bike trails when even riding this monsterly mud beast.
I see some stupid people getting on dirt bikes drunk, cuasing more damage than the quad rider, and getting hurt twice as fast.
Now back to my 2 wheel drive 250 2 stroke quad. trust me, you need skills to ride this.

Mooseracing...Good to hear from another one who respects the sport. See, quad riders are not all beer drinking rednecks. Maybe we should stop complaining about who does what and team up together against the those who abuse the trails...etc.

I don't think anybody disputed this point. Don't take it so personally.

Ok, on the other hand, maybe you should take this personally.

Bashing people on utilty quads with no helmets is one thing. Bashing people who race them is another. i used to dirtbike i had a kx80. i switch to quads because i was to small for a 125 and all my friends switched to them. and dont say they take no skill. just to get on and ride they dont. But quads take skill as well. Only thing harder to do is keep a bike up right other wise its completly better than a quad.

I personally dislike quads because they blow dirt off of tracks, creating hardpack, rocky garbage that is SLICK as ice for bikes. A quad can come blazing through a turn sliding, but if RC tried that on a bike, he'd be down! It makes it VERY unfun and dangerous to ride a bike.

Which, is a problem with OUR AREAS....we share tracks with quads, and it does NOT work. They need to water to keep dust down for the quads, but then it is so slick the bikes can't ride without crashing or having to go so slow it's no fun.

As far as RIDING a quad, I like it. It's fun to blaze turns, but I can't jump one to save my life. I think a quad is MUCH more difficult to jump than a bike, at least initially.

its harder to carry an ice chest of beer on a bike than on a quad, j/k i think it's all about how responisble you are, you can get hurt on a quad and you can get hurt on a bike the reason quads get bashed, is cuz they arent bikes and we love bikes.

I stand corrected sorry minor brain fart!! I just now noticed you live in Iowa.. I have to say this you seem like an exception.. Do you go to the OHV's or do you ride on your own land? Go to any of the OHV's and the quad guys are like cowboys from hell roosting rocks in the parking lots riding helmetless shirtless riding double etc.. Yes I see this with dirt bikers as well but no where near as often. I rode a bunch of single track in Colorado this year trails that are banned to quads and 4x4's not a rut anywhere quads cause the ruts period I dont care what kinda equation you come up with!
Ask some of the other Iowa guys here our last ride quads took down 3-4 of them some serious accidents from careless collisions now ask the guys how many times they collided with 2 wheelers...

Do you ever truly try to blaze a turn as fast as a bike can? Ya know what would happen?, the quad would roll if ya ever made a turn as fast as rc could unless you are SKILLED

Spotty Marley, what is your point about your last post? If anyone would wonder who is the one abusing the trails, running the loud pipes and basically doing stupid things, I think a few eyes will look at you and say...yep, he is one of them.

The nice thing about a forum like this is it provides information so we can learn. We get no where bashing each other saying one is better then the other. Both bikes and quads do damage to the trails, both have jerks who blow it for the rest of us and manage to have our riding areas closed because of stupid stunts. Now it's easy to sit on a forum and complain about this but how many of you are actually trying to preserve what we do have? I'm in two clubs, bike and quad, I'm also a member of a lobby group that fights to keep our riding lands open (BRC) and even though I don't care for the way they promote racing, the AMA because they do fight for our rights on trails and on the streets.

Check this thread out...nice post about someone fixing a trail instead of complaining about who damaged it the most.

On a normal, true MX track with good dirt, YES, a bike will out turn a quad easily (assuming there are ruts/berms)
BUT, if you go to a track where alot of quads ride (as we have here, where bikes and quads share the same tracks), the dirt is blown off from the quads, and you have a hardpack track (bluegroove). NOW, toss a little water or moisture on that track, and BAM! A quad will be able to slide through a turn faster than anyone....even one of the FASTEST BIKES will NOT be able to go as fast as the quad. THAT'S what I was saying.

At places like Rocket Raceway, here, when they DID allow quads (no more, as the owner got sick of the dirt being blown off and packed down so bikes wouldn't be able to ride as hard) an average bike rider could go ALOT faster than the fastest quad, cause the quad would bicycle/roll if they tried to go fast! The bike can lean over till the bars drag, the quad has to slow down.

Obsticles for one may not be obsticles for the other...That is what racing is all about. How fast you can get around a track no matter what they put out there or what kind of conditions you have. Look at the pro outdoor racers. The best riders can ride in any conditions...wet, dry, slick, tacky...it doesn't matter, they go and they go fast... If I owned a track...one week it might be hard pack, next week I might disc it up. Mother nature has from time to time made it muddy... all a part of racing.
